Yamamoto deal is bad for the Oilers. Don't know much about Moore, but Yamo has been great as of late.
Oilers win big on the Chychrun and Heiskenen deals.
The Coyotes deal is like a Broberg type prospect away from being decent.
The Stars deal just isn't even close. Heiskenen >>> Nurse and Oettinger>Skinner, and is further along in development. Not to mentioned Heiskanen is close to $1M less. May not be much, but makes a difference when your GM is flushing nearly $6M on players like Keith.

Honestly, really like all this. I would prefer to keep Barrie in the lineup, but with the additions and contract raises needed, I can see how that would be tough in this scenario.

Yea I agree. Likely Ryan and Brassard will alternate taking draws on their strong sides, with Malone/Shore being the 3rd on that line

lol Brassard is not playing with McDavid hahah. Don’t disrespect Connor like that. 2 of Malone/Shore/Brassard will be lineup on the 4th line.
Kulak, given what he cost, I could easily see pushing Keith down the the 3rd pairing. Keith is a disaster moving the puck so hopefully Kulak can help with that

Braun got a 3rd without retention. Kulak shouldn't cost more than a 3rd.
A 2nd rounder would be an overpayment for the Oilers IMO

I’d be happy with these moves. I like Watson and Soucy.
Sad that in year 7 of McDavid we are not in a position to make adds for a deep run but that’s just where we are at I guess.

Don't like any of this for the Oilers.
Moving Barrie would be a mistake. Hes a great puck mover and looks great when he plays 18 mins max a night. Nurse/Russell/Keith are not good puck movers. Barrie has a reasonable contract and is liked in the room.
Braun is a fraction of the player he used to be. Rumour is he will cost around a 3rd. As of right now, a 2nd for a player of his calibre is too much. Would not be happy with that at all.
I get that you are dumping Kassian which I would like to see, but the oilers have a limited selection of quality trade chips. Moving a good pick that could turn into a 1st for Kapanen is waaaay off the mark. He has been horrible. I'd be fine with it being a 2nd, but that condition is bad. I understand that if you make the conference finals you are happy. But ultimately a 1st for Kapanen is bad
I like the idea of targeting Forsberg for this year, but he hasn't been a starter and is having a nice little run this season. And as mentioned above, the Oilers have few valuable trade chips. A 1st for a 3rd line UFA and a career backup on a nice run is poor asset management. Both are due contracts. Paul would be a rental given the Oilers limited cap space. And although Forsberg would be reasonable to resign, A Forsberg-Skinner duo next season is not exactly a duo I'd be confident in.
Claiming Mrazek is hilariously bad. If Holland brings up the name Mrazek through trade or waivers, he should immediately be let go. Mrazek is not a good goalie and on a multi-year contract. He had good numbers playing behind the best defensive team in Carolina, which is no doubt due to their system, seeing how Raanta and Andersen are preforming this year. We need an upgrade on goalies. Koskinen is playing like a top 10 goalie his last 15 starts. It makes sense to just run with what we have for the remainder of the season, then look to trade for a legitimate starter in the offseason. Claiming Mrazek only helps the leafs get out of his contract. I am worried that Holland likes him from his time in detroit and if they make that move, it will hinder their flexibility that much more come the offseason. No to Mrazek at all costs.

Yea for both of them.
But realistically speaking thats a crappy return for Paul.
The Soucy deal seems a little heavy. A 2nd and a good prospect is a lot to give for what he brings. I feel like a 3rd and prospect like Samorukov OR a 2nd and a C level prospect is a more accurate price.
But if the price gets bid up enough, I would be willing to pay that price

Probably don’t need to open a discussion on this one. The guy literally has a 1st round pick for 40 year year old Craig Anderson. When they are that far off the mark, best to let the thread fade away haha

Oilers are not remotely interested in either of those.
Ceci has arguably been our most consistent and steady dman all season. The fact that you’re adding a pick alongside him to downgrade to Braun makes me think you haven’t watched an oilers game all season.
Allen is not better than anything we have now. Lehkonen is good but the oilers don’t need depth rentals. Let along the fact you have us moving a 1st and Bourgault. Value is horrible for the oilers

Wild that Eller has more value than Barrie.
Brutal overpayment for Ullmark… on top of the overpayment, oilers would be way better off avoiding him. He’s got a big deal and he’s not a big upgrade over Koskinen.

Oilers offseason
Coming from an oilers fan, Not even close for Gibson. The chance of him being moved is getting smaller than it was at the start of the season. I used to think it made sense for them to move him, as his prime years didn’t align with Anaheim’s timeline of competing. But with the emergence of Terry, Zegras, Drysdale etc I think their window is closer than I thought initially. With a few good offseasons and signings, they could be a playoff team shortly.
If the oilers were to put together a package, it would be something along the lines of:
1st, 2nd, Skinner, Broberg + some cap to even up the money.
That’s a very steep price to pay, but the aside from Skinner, the oilers don’t have a goalie in the system who’ll be nhl ready in the next 2 years. There aren’t any UFAs that a long term fixes, and the trade market as of right now is at best a lateral move from what they have now.
If there’s a chance a Gibson or Hart are available, the oilers should move nearly anything to get it done, but I don’t like Holland’s creativity to actually swing a big deal so it’s a moot point

Healthy and Re-tooled
Neither Jones or Brassard really interest the oilers.
Jones isn’t an upgrade or a solution in goal.
Brassard is just meh. Doesn’t really address a need and seems like he is somewhere between Ryan and Turris at this point. Skilled guy, but no room in the top 9 and not physical enough to play on a 4th line.
Nothing in this package makes me want to give a decent forward prospect in Lavoie.

Doesn't seem like a good deal for either team. Flyers lose their franchise goalie and don't get an established roster player or a sure-fire prospect. The Oilers lose all their valuable draft picks for 3 years.
I think the value favours the Flyers, as mentioned already, thats a pretty large return of draft capital.
If Hart were to become available, I feel like it would make more sense to dial it back on the picks and include players like Yamamoto, Skinner, maybe even a Broberg etc. Skinner has some value, and if you're trading for Hart, no need for him anymore. A player like Yamo gives them a tenacious forward who is in the lineup right away and can pitch in offensively. I just feel like it makes more sense for the Flyers to get something a little more established. But I do also acknowledge the Oilers may want to keep as many roster players as possible, and would prefer to move futures. Somewhere in the middle would make the most sense.

Solving 3 Fundamental Needs in 3 years
I would say this roster is worse than the current one, which is saying something.
Oilers have to pay a decent price for a 38 year old Keith from Chicago, but Barrie (a great puck mover, signed to a fair deal, who is one season removed from leading all dmen in points) returns nothing? I boggles my mind how disrespected Barrie is on this site. No doubt he isn’t a top pairing all around dman. But you limit his TOI to 15-18 mins with pp time and he does his job at a high level. Makes zero sense to me that people value him at nothing and even have the oilers paying a decent price just to “dump” him.
As already mentioned, Nuge isn’t signing a team friendly deal just to waive his NMC. Nuges loyalty and style of play is what the oilers need more of.
Bouchard deal is a wild overpayment for now. He is way too unreliable defensively to garner an AAV like that at this point. I get that this deal is in the future, but he has a lot to work on. Hoping he does, but his aggressiveness and compete level have been a glaring issue ever since junior, so I’m a little nervous about it.
Don’t hate the Kane deal… it would be in the best interest of the oilers to cap it at 2 years. But if he keeps producing like he is, they may be competing with other teams, driving up the term and money.
The time to sign Andersen would have been last season. Once his deal is done with the canes, he will be past his prime and more risky.
I don’t understand dumping a middle 6 winger who’s good on the pk for nothing. Just why?

I just don't think Klingberg to the Oilers makes any sense. After the new coach bump, the team has come back to reality a little and its clear this roster needs upgrading still, which is unfortunate to say, but its true. All those assets that Klingberg would cost are better off going towards someone with term who can actually be apart of this team beyond 20 games.

What I hope each one of our RFAs get
Seems reasonable. Puljujarvi was probably looking at $5M + after his hot start, but pointless for a over a month doesn’t help his cause.
At the same time, his hot start was riding McDavids wing. It think long term at $4.5M is fair for both sides. I could also see him maybe betting on himself with a 1 or 2 year deal at like $3.5M AAV.
Yamo deal is fair. He’s literally been gifted top 6 minutes with Drai for a long-term look. Despite that, he goes on cold offensive streaks and never really produces more than that of a 3rd liner. I could see him being used as trade bait if he wants more, but the reality is he is a 3rd liner who is good on the pk and can play anywhere in the middle 6. A player like should be getting $3-4 but he is just too weak offensively to justify any more.

Underpay for Chychrun. Add in Broberg and Yams and it’s closer.
Pointless to trade for Rittich. He isn’t a starter. He is a another backup caliber goalie. Not to mention the fans hate him from his Battle of Alberta days. No need to flush assets for at best a lateral move.

Fleury to Edmonton makes zero sense from both the Oilers and Fleury's perspectives. ITs not worth the assets it will cost for 15/20 games of a rental, give the fact that the Oilers current roster construction makes them a fringe playoff team. Doesn't make sense for Fleury since there are legitimate cup contenders who are interested in him. He has control over where he goes, so there are 10 teams he would pick over Edmonton.
Don't hate targeting Georgiev. And at that cost, its an easy yes. But that specific deal makes no sense for the Rangers. While the value for him seems to vary quite a bit on this site, why would the rangers downgrade from him to Koskinen. The reason to move Georgiev would be because they don't want to lose him for nothing. Perlini and a 5th have virtually no value. So they are just dongrading goalies for their hopefully deep playoff run. Then lose Koskinen to UFA anyway. Simply no value headed to the Rangers
