Colorado Avalanche signed Anton Blidh (1 Year / $750,000 AAV)
Just hope he gets what he wants in Colorado. He left Boston due to lack of NHL ice time. Tbh, if Colorado gives him what he wants and he plays 4th line minutes, they should be fine. Just don't expect much in terms of offense out of him. He is a gritty, hard working checker who skates well. Might be good with helm and cogliano as a shutdown 4th line.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Roysboy72</b></div><div>Great deal, but I saw a report that there’s $70mil+ in signing bonuses, so this may be updated to reflect that if it’s true.
If that’s actually true, that means nearly 90% of the contract is signing bonuses, how does that even work?</div></div>
If the contract is balanced, on July 1, Barkov is paid 9 million in a signing bonus. Then a 1 million base salary for the season for 8 years.

You can never go wrong at league minimum to ensure you have enough goaltending depth signed incase of injuries.

Getting Wild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bsilk18</b></div><div>Actually, I agreed with you, but I wanna work through this one lol because now Im second guessing myself
Ok so Koivus contract for Backes and a 1st . (the 1st is to make up for the extra year on Backes' deal and the 500k extra lol)
Zucker for Heinen, Kuhlman, and Zboril (This is definitely a slight overpayment, so id say if the wild retain some salary and maybe the rbuins take out zboril its good [based on how Zucker is playing] )...
Again, its not perfect, but not terrible!</div></div>
I say take kuhlman off, not zboril. The bruins have good defensive prospect depth. Kuhlman is a good forward that Cassidy likes. If it means giving a pick instead, I would do that. Make the trade zucker for heinen, zboril, and a 5th. I feel thats fair.
And i dont see either team moving backes or koivu. Both need to waive their NMCs, I dont see either doing so.

St. Louis Blues signed Troy Brouwer (1 Year / $750,000 AAV)
It never hurts to bring back an old fan favorite. Even though he might not get a lot of games this year, Brouwer is still a serviceable 4th line/extra forward on a team that could use one. Yeah this means a prospect goes to the minors most likely, but another season of development is good for the rookies.

Cheap contract for an experienced 7/8th defenceman on a team that could use it. Low risk, low reward signing. I like it.

Good 4th line center on a team that could use a veteran depth player... And a useful one at that.

Good luck ever scoring on that 3rd line ? Granted not the fastest line but the hockey IQ of those three is off the charts.

And that leaves just petro. Hopefully they can get a deal done with him. With so little cap space, i would assume steen could be bought out or traded this off-season.

Even as a Boston fan who likes this signing... WHY FLORIDA. WHY. A line of Hoffman-Barkov-Marchessault would be lethal... ?

Buffalo Sabres signed Jeff Skinner (8 Years / $9,000,000 AAV)
As bad as this seems and unless the details of the signing change, I see no NMC. So... He may be overpaid but if he doesn't work, he can find himself getting traded no strings attached.
Edit: NEVERMIND. THIS IS GONNA HURT.

Great player with a maybe too high cap hit at the end of the deal and a nmc for all 8 years... WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG.
For right now, this is a great contract for what stone brings. Elite two way first liner at a good cap hit. Lets just hope he stays at the elite level through all 8 years.
He should, but ya never know anymore...

He is the leagues leading scorer over in europe and has played with kahun back in junior. If Chicago signs him they may get another late bloomer with ties to other players on the team. Not saying it could be another panarin but another solid grab by Chicago nonetheless.

Definitely a contract that goes from overpaid to underpaid given his market value if he takes all the right steps in his game. He is only in his early 20s so he has a few years to really get his game rounded out and to show he is a solid defenseman.
