Nylander landed
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MaxBorjshlapsky</b></div><div>You have too many you must share :p</div></div>
He wont
It'll take Lane Hutson having 30 games in the NHL before he realizes "holy crap, we got no room"
But thats 2 years off at most so we can afford to ignore the problem a bit longer
At this point i think we're good
We cant get more back for Nylander at the TDL then we're giving up ... so no ability to Profit.
We're not Contending and he's not Re-signing as Cole, Nick and Kent all made it clear this summer there is a limit and no blank checks as Dubois even found out.
If Nylander would sign for just under 9m we could justify it at that cost . . . But that'll never happen or TML woulda just signed him to it already.
I think you're better off Facilitating a Trade that put Nylander somewhere he wants to be who can afford him.
If that's me i'd say to CGY in a deal for Lindholm would be best.

SMH Travel Time suddenly isnt a Factor just because its in the Air?
It aint happening , you havent heard from his wife yet have you?
There's no chance he's risking setting off Karen again by not being available to hop on a plane quick when she calls.
Long story short thats what this whole Trade Scenario stemmed from otherwise he'd still be playing great in MTL.
IMO MTL is his 2nd home where Julie lived with the kids part time for years before the Pandemic.
Odds are they'll resume that after years of their routine being a mess.
Petry's a 2nd Generation athlete who doesnt chase money over happiness.
I highly doubt you see him compromise anymore now then he was willing to for PIT so they could acquire Karlsson easier.
Instead he dug in.

I expect it from our Fans and most fans in general
But PIT should know better.
You didnt trade back Retaining Salary 25% and giving MTL a 2nd , Prospect and a Goalie to move him at a loss.
This is after taking him on at a loss as even the 4th round pick we got with Matheson was top 9th in KHL Rookie scoring last year
Meanwhile Poehlings the Penguins last shot at Value from the Petry Deal.

Better give them that stadium now alright
No way ARZ keeps the team
I think they move close to Houston Texas.
2-4 hour Flight away so Fans of ARZ Hockey arent as far as they should be from the NHL.
They can build up the ARZ AHL team thats been on par with ARZ's NHL teams attendance basically.
Grow that Market and Promote that Franchise to the NHL when they grow big enough as that group is the Heart and Soul of ARZ Hockey.
Coyotes offer little to nothing outside a guaranteed loss for 30 years basically.
Tuscon Roadrunners have been there like 7-8 years and have a pretty loyal Fanbase and a decent team that was Robbed during the Pandemic as they were Stacked for a playoff run.
If done right you can even make jokes about it later naming your AHL team the Coyotes calling it "doing things the right way after Wile E Coyote'ing it for decades"
Tuscons the Right Market especially since the refused to abandon their Roadrunners to house the Coyotes, But they still need a bit more time to grow.

Its why PIT after losing a trade so badly
Offered to Retain 25% and pay us to take Petry back
Why? MTL was on his List of team's he'd go to.(or not on his No Trade List like SEA)
He's going no where.
He never wanted to go
He never disliked MTL he felt he was Held Hostage by Justin Trudeau as his Wife was giving Birth to their 4th child.
He just wanted any way across the border as Trudeau was one of the last nations to allow its people any sense of Freedom(i say that as someone who voted for him Twice)
In the next 2 years i dont foresee the same issues arising.
I thinks its far less likely then Petry accepting Trades to teams he's rejected for 2 years under 4 GM's. . .But not by much.

Agreed
We got Desmith cause Allen's barely able to play 18 rounds this year
If he'll be ready it wont be for Camp it will be November at least.
I've been watching him for 7 years and this is the worst he's ever looked.
Im not talking about a gradual decline either
Last year he played 10x as much with no mobility issues really outside stretching his lower back/hips a lot more then years past.
This year its like the difference between Weber before SCF and After. Huge difference in Mobility

Cap Compliant
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GreatWhiteNorth</b></div><div>There’s no chance a rebuilding team goes into the season with a 20 man roster. You don’t do that with young players as you’ll burn them out and they need competition to help them develop.
That being said, DeSmith is likely flipped somewhere else as there’s no need for him in Montreal. Or at very least 1 of the 3 goalies will be moved but he’s the most likely. & with Price being on LTIR they’ll technically be able to use $10.5M of space over the cap if needed, so there really was no issue ever of them being cap compliant or not</div></div>
He didnt put Price on LTIR , he's new clearly
Dvorak isnt on IR yet he placed him there instead of "Scratches" and inch to the left.
He buried Harris who requires us Bury Salary over Barron who doesnt and starts slow each season now in Junior and AHL showing a pattern.
Armia's Buyout was Cheaper by a lot then his contract is to Bury , Hughes simply isnt that bad a businessman.
More important Jake Allens annual Golf Tournament he barely completed 18 holes.
Usually he plays 6 to 7 times that as his Uncle drags him around meeting people he thinks will donate.
I've been watching him at these things for i think 7 years now and his follow through suggests mobility issues with his Joints likely Hips or Lower Back.
IF he plays it wont be long before he's on LTIR

Jeff Petry
The reason Petry ended up in MTL?
Ironically he was one of the Few Teams not on his No Trade List.
IF TML wasnt on it they woulda have @ 25% RS to match a Cap Dump MTL got rid of in the exchange.
The reason he's back in MTL?
No other team could fit him cap wise that needed /wanted him
His Cap getting smaller doesnt address these issues that say PIT take a huge hit on the Chin RS on Petry after losing the deal to us as Matheson thrives.
You know how out of options you have to be to engage with a team who just made you look like an idiot in a trade??
It wasnt because there was alternatives that wanted less then a 1st round pick ++ for Petry just because they were on his list and had leverage

The Primeau Situation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mglgoalie33</b></div><div>Well, Elvis fits the window and Mtl is probably off his 10 team and he is Austrian(which might help Reinbacher a tad). I see a fit there. Lankinen might be a target for contenders though, a possible bidding war which I'm afraid of getting into.</div></div>
Agreed.
Reinbacher will need the help and likely even more of it.
We're doing a lot of Damage to his Development by making him the first Swiss born 1st round pick to waste their time in the NL
Rest went out to QMJHL ,SHL, and Liiga.
We might need to grab Nino Neidereiter for the additional support to make sure this kid shows up.
Otherwise he wont survive the MTL media
He's in a league thats has like 13 Prospects it developed in the NHL
I mean Its a Retirement League for those who cant get jobs in KHL,SHL, Liiga, DEL or even Allsvenskan even.
Marc Antoine Pouliot,Mikko Koskinen, Daniel Winnik , Markus Granlund, David Desharnais, Brett Connonly, Christian Djoos, Marko Mueller , Alex Textier , Tyler Ennis, Jacob De La Rose, Jiri Sekac, Sven Andrighetto and Raphael Diaz.
Whats the worst part? Of all those former NHL players i like Valteri Fillipula is leading them all at 39 as he sits 5th in league Production and 4th in Assists.
Thats the league we're sending the kids to when ironically DEL has produced far more NHL talent and higher quality.
NL you learn half as much in twice as much time as the majority of their players are lifer's. Their top 100 players all time has like 3 players who were in the NHL.
The rest are guys who spent 10-15 years in the NHL and offer little to nothing in terms of developmental influence on aspiring NHL players.
Its why ironically the Swiss born end up in the DEL at a much higher rate then the NL.
At best we might get a Roman Josi after 4 years over there total but its far more likely JJ Moser is what you're getting if you develop him over there.
That said JJ Moser Sophmore year was better than most of last years habs players outside Matheson (JM had 3 pts less )
Still thats a high Price to pay for when Moser and Josi were both 2nd round picks. Only Swizz that went 1st round did so cause they developed outside the NL in Canada,Germany and Sweden mostly.
Ive been all about Support Reinbacher since about a week after the draft.
Its just baffling that they'd send him back to an inferior league to develop like he's some 2nd round nobody.
All the other 1st round picks born in Switzerland didnt play a single game in the NL as it was seen as a poor developmental choice.
But Hughes seems to be on board with it and its making me nervous.

To having everyone basically pass on playing for Craig Conroy for some weird reason i dont get, but it leaves us in a good position with this Pick.
In the end we can get depth pieces for Dvorak at 50% RS
Contenders arent giving up huge packages for anyone at the TDL unless its Futures
That said im sure CGY would be a good option if you're selling this low

Yes, Ofcourse
Retaining Salary on Nylander at the TDL brings him to 3.45m i think?
We can deffinately get something good for him as a rental.
If we pay someone else to RS a 1st and 2nd round pick package will be easy to get.
I mean VGK or NYR or FLA for example if they can get Nylander at the TDL from MTL with a 2nd team RS bringing the cap to 1.725m
I mean is it worth the gamble given CGY is rebuilding and its unprotected? Not Really ,no
But we get rid of Dvorak without RS for the extra year .
Is that worth giving up a possible top 5 pick ? Not really but we can always just top 10 protect it
TML still gets likely a 10th-20th OA pick an upgrade on the Late 1st and 2nd round picks they'd get at the TDL
Overall though its better for all involved to just deal with their own problems at the TDL lol

You can literally see his Decline after all his Shot Blockers went and they switched to more Offensive Dmen.
They went from Werenksi,S.Jones, D.Savard, R.Murray, A.Peeke, M.Nutivara and V.Gavrikov to losing Jones , Savard Murray and Nutivara basically overnight.
They didnt replace them either it was Jake Bean, Nick Blankenburg, Gabe Carlsson, Gavin Beyruther, and the only 2 real replacement in Boqvist

OR
You dont know much about MTL's Depth ?
CAR in 2021 was top 10 depth in the league while MTL was ranked 32/32nd
MTL ranked 32nd to 12th from 2021 - now
While CAR ranked 9th to 15th from 2021 - now
Not a big difference for CAR they didnt add or lose that much in the drafts since, just a lot of Lateral Moves and trading picks.
MTL on the other hand jumped 20 spots in 2 years and added as much depth as any team in the NHL via Draft and more then most via Trade.
Most important Ryan Suzuki isnt listed on CAR top 5 assets anymore fast forward 2 years from 2021 rankings and its Nikishin, Morrow, Koivunen, Heimosalmi and Bokk. . . yes Bokk over Suzki surprised me to as i consider Bokk a bust. But again ranked over R.Suzuki who you keep saying is a top guy in our system that's ranked better then yours . . . .
Factually that aint right.
IF your So High on R. Suzuki you'd never move him
Instead you're doing what DET fans did with Zadina right up until they bought him out.

o you really believe that?
We value him at like a 4th round pick
If he wasnt our Captains brother we wouldnt consider him at all given he is in a position we're stacked at.
I'd bet Simmoneau or even Davidson makes the NHL before Suzuki
Both are big game players who take abuse and ask for more basically lol
I dont even rank them high up there either , thats the low end of our depth chart.
Ok so Conditional 3rd that becomes a 2nd if CAR wins the Cup with Dvo playing 50%, 4th round pick for R.Suzuki's Value and Cade Webber ?
We'll get better Quality in the 4th round pick then Suzuki has to us outside his value for Jersey Sales and cheesy Suzuki Brother Video's .
I mean we cut an AHL player with better results then Suzuki in Joel Teasdale.
He's been superior to R.Suzuki at all levels including winning a Memorial Cup as MVP over Nick Suzuki no less.

Yes and No
If we do it early in Camp when like 60% of the league puts their players through on Waivers, i think we're fine.
We can call him back up after for 9 games i think before he requires waivers again if something like Allen gets hurt.
If Allens out long term i think Primeau stays in a tandem with Monty and Allen gets moved ,put on LTIR or waived
Primeau's not as far off as most people think
Waivers is only an issue if we miss that window.
That said im almost hoping Allen gets injured in camp again
Primeau i think takes full advantage of playing Tandem with Montembault who now has Carey Price working with him as his Trainor and will likely help Primeau too.
Allen has become Kent Hughes version of Karl Alzner. Which hurts cause as a NBer i was this close to seeing Allen win a cup with MTL a dream i had for years... but that was with Price as #1.
Without Price we've had Allen go from never on LTIR before to always on LTIR since.(not an exaggeration sadly)
