The Top 10 Draft Busts of 2009

For the purposes of this post, a draft bust is "a highly touted or highly selected draftee that does not meet expectations".


Rankings are based on how high the draft bust was selected.


If there is still hope for a draft pick to turn things around, they are not included.


In order to officially declare a player as a bust, at least 5 years must have elapsed from the day of the draft in which such player was selected.


That means any decision on declaring a player that was drafted in 2017 or later would be premature.



Since more than 10 years have elapsed since this draft, one indicator that will be used to determine if a player is a bust is the # of NHL games played since the draft.


Not to mention career earnings.


If you never even knew who this player was, that's probably because he's a bust.
