Not saying he’s bad but there is a pretty strong chance Raymond goes 8 and a decent chance even after. He hasn’t done anything to put himself past perfetti/holtz/Rossi or even lundell. Rossi is a centre so he’ll probably go before as size isn’t a factor when they are both small. Perfetti is way more dynamic offensively as he is very smart, good stick handler and can score(not that the first two don’t apply to Raymond, but perfetti is smarter and can score.) perfetti is also playing in the ohl meaning more exposure and easier to understand his game and evaluate him as he’s playing 20 minutes a night. We know that 2 types of players ’fall’ in the drafts, those are small players and euros; he is both. As for holtz he is a very good sniper so I see at least one team taking him(probably Anaheim or New Jersey) drysdale is a d so he won’t be available at 8. Now for Raymond past 8, you have a very good 2-way centre in lundell who could easily be taken before Raymond as he is more nhl ready and a centre. You also have Sanderson who is a very good d and gms ‘overvalue’ d a lot. And you have askarov who could easily be taken in the top 8
How exactly did you come to this conclusion? Raymond is definitely a step above Holtz. the SHL is a mens league unlike the OHL and Raymond had to earn his minutes there. Raymond outperformed Byfield and only had 1 less point than Stutlze at the WJC this year too, where Perfetti didn't even make the team. Your numbers are purely based off of the neglecting the skill difference in the 2 leagues they play in. Raymond is been widely compared to Marner and Gaudreau in terms of skill and potential where Perfetti is compared to RNH.
Lets look at some recent examples of OHL players with similar numbers in their draft years:
Morgan Frost - 42g, 112p in 67 games, drafted 27th.
Nick Suzuki - 45g, 96p in 65 games, drafted 13th
Mitch Marner - 44g, 126p in 63 games, drafted 4th (big step up from Perfetti's numbers though)
Now for SHL and SuperElit players:
Rasmus Dahlin - 1g, 3p in 26 SHL games (same team too). 9g, 22p in 24 games in SE
William Nylander - 1g, 7p in 22 games in SHL.
