Nah, these trades are awful. NJ trade is illogical, why would they take Helm since they're also in rebuilding stage right now. ARZ has no reason to take a 6-years of a cap dump without any tempting asset. Why would COL take Ericsson, who is too expensive and declined very badly. And why the hell would NYR trade one of their TOP3 prospects to a guy who didn't get a single goal during last season, excluding the last one!?

These trades are value-wise, very bad.

I'll agree the trade with the Rangers is awful, but the trade with NJ isn't actually bad for NJ. Helm is signed for like another 4 years which would be a solid 3c for them and allow them to either send Hischier to juniors for a year until they are ready or lets them trade Henrique for surrounding pieces speeding up the rebuild process. The trade with AZ makes a little bit of sense too for AZ. AZ has tons of cap space and already has a team to compete this year. Abdelkader is a huge upgrade over McGinn and only a million or 2 more. Trade for colborne makes no sense for the Avs. Other than they desperately need D, but they can get similar cheaper options in FA. Detroit only wins the Vesey and Colborne trades.

But it Abdelkater that much better than McGinn to take on a 6 year deal? Absolutely not. The only thing Detroit can do it trade Mrazek. It's their only way out.
