In principle it’s a good trade but I feel Ehlers is worth a little bit more than that

Ehlers has literally been a pedestrian every playoffs he's ever been in!

Hronek has been injured for months. Hasn't taken a slap shot since December.

Hronek without question has more value. Younger, more prized position, and literally better.

Ehlers has proven to be a bonafide sniper and consistently puts up borderline elite numbers despite being heavily underutilized

They clearly would be if it were on offer, but it's not. Keeping dreaming.

I mean if you’re using that argument Ehlers is also a ghost in the playoffs…

Ehlers is a hell of a player. I'm not arguing that. Hronek is a top pairing defenseman. And a right shot. It's literally the hardest position to find talent. He's put up even more impressive numbers than Ehlers the last two yrs and he's younger.

I do wonder why multiple coaches now don't play Ehlers more. I think he's good but it is curious. Any idea why?

So funny right. One has been a ghost 6-7 times in the playoffs the other once. And there is good evidence and reporting saying he was injured since December.

I think it’s because of how loaded the Jets top 6 is, however I thought for sure when Wheeler left we’d get to see him way more ice time but that wasn’t the case. So I’m not quite sure at this point

It could be but the odds of that drop with each successive coach. How many is he on now 3rd? Not to mention Rick Bowness and Paul Maurice are quite good coaches.

Well in Ehlers defense in most of the Jets times in the playoffs aside from the 17-18 run the entire team has been ghosts in the playoffs and in the 18-19 playoffs he took a dirty elbow in the face from that piece of **** Bortuzzo so he was possibly playing through a concussion, that whole season was lost before Christmas, it was obvious they had room issues(Wheeler).

Last year he was injured against Vegas and didn't get in till the last game but in all the interviews he sounded ready to go for game one, was a weird situation, almost seemed like Bones was holding him out of the lineup when he was healthy and put him in when the series was essentially over.

This years run the whole team was ass yet he's getting most of the blame, his two linemates especially Toffoli were invisible.

No doubt his playoffs haven't been great but no one on the Jets has been very good in the playoffs for quite some time.

I don't think they are.

Well I think Maurice liked Ehlers and relied on him to get things going on different lines and on the 2nd PP unit but he was also trying to do whatever to appease Wheeler and Scheifele sooo 🤷‍♂️

I think Bones just didn't like him as a player. Bowness seems like a coach that wants one offensive line and three grind lines.

They both get a lot out of their teams and are hugely experienced. So the fact that they both didn't like to rely heavily on Ehlers says something. Especially given his underlying defensive metrics are quite good. Not saying its not possible he'd flourish elsewhere just slight buyer beware. Playoff output would also be in that category.
