ya with a 4 rookie dman playing most nights, not too worried about his stats from last year, they have no number 1 goalie he has shown flashes and had a solid world championship and at the very least can stop some of the bleeding on rough nights with some growth opportunity as he still is fairly young for a goalie. a 2nd and 3rd round that will both be late dont really do a whole lot we have plenty of picks and using our last retention slot on that is a waste not saying his value is higher then that but they already made their choice on which goalie to get rid of.

He stole a lot of games last season and had a ton of 0.920-0.940 games last, but his numbers are tanked by some blowout games. But the main reason they don't consider it is because of the retention slot. They only have 1 left and they can do much more with it then trading Montembault.
