1) LOB is not needed, if he beats all of Kelly, Sokolov, Crookshank, Smejkal and Reinhardt for the 4th line LW spot, Sens will still have to pay a NHL salary to play in the AHL. He doesn't have any value, at least not for Ottawa. Which makes it Kubalik + Brannstrom for Durzi, which makes it a really bad trade. I understand this way the Sens create cap space but these players have value and are not like cap dumps.
Just remove Brannstrom and Durzi as I would much rather have Brannstrom than Durzi. The only thing he does more than Brannstrom is getting secondary assists on the PP, Brannstrom plays little PP because of the guys in front of him.
So not interested in LOB or Durzi, make it Kubalik for a pick, Yotes use him this season and sell him HIGHER at the deadline : profit
For Ottawa, moving Kubalik's AAV would be well enough space to sign Pinto to a 1 year bridge
2) This trade doesn't happen (because of Forsberg being the guy that brought Korpisalo to Ottawa) and is not even needed anyway. It's also pretty bad value for Ottawa, who also have to find a way to not lose Thomson on waivers, the guy is getting good

While Thomson was 19th OA in 2019, he has not demonstrated that he is a potential NHL RHD.
Among all of the first round pick from that year only 5 have played fewer NHL games than he.
Thomson looked really good last night, of course it's 1 game but he's playing for his stay in Ottawa. He played against Matthews/Marner and did really well.
And moot point on Forsberg, Sens not going to trade him and also need him at least this season to give more development to Sogaard and Merilainen.

I was seeing plenty of posts over the last year where he was included as the cost to dump a player. Zaitsev specifically. Zaitsev & Thomson for FC was a conversation I recall having. This would be a similar situation but they'd be receiving a much cheaper RFA option as backup tendy. Maybe the tune has changed but I still think it's fairly reasonable considering almost every team is going to want a premium to help them sign Pinto.
There hasn't been a "career path" for Thomson in Ottawa for a while because of the decisions they have made, which was even more the case with JBD being signed on a 1 way for 2 years. They have to find a way to keep both. Trading Brannstrom makes sense with all the defensive wealth/depth the Sens suddenly have
But you can forget Forsberg being traded. It's going to be either Kubalik or Brannstrom but they might just trade for a LTIR contract as well
