No way you'd rather have Lagesson over Timmins...

Considering the Leafs cap situation I would

Its a #7 pressbox Dman position who cares who it is. Wont play more than 10 games at most

Lagesson or Benoit are perfect for it.

I mean you got Lagesson at 775k if u need someone

1.1m really isnt cheap for a #7Dman league as thats not league min

Better to move him and get an asset at this point that sit him out

Your argument is over 325K 👍

And that cap space ensures Leafs can field a team and not be over the cap.

As unless they decide to go 11-7 0 way of keeping him. But that would be silly

In general not worth getting to attached to a #7Dman. Trade him before the season and get something or try and pass him through waivers for the Marlies

Gregor is probably getting a deal. A move has to be made to be cap compliant, and with Robertson looking poised to make the roster, I think a Jarnkrok trade is looming. Robby fills the same niche and the cap we save gives us flexibility for a 22 man roster. Call me crazy, but I don't love the idea of running 40 years old Giordano for 82 games and then also in the playoffs. Give me something like:

Bertuzzi - Matthews - Marner
Domi - Tavares - Knies
Gregor - Nylander - Robertson
McMann - Kampf - Lafferty
Reaves

Rielly - Liljegren
McCabe - Timmins
Brodie - Klingberg
Giordano

Samsonov
Woll

As much as I like Klingberg, I'd prefer him to be used in the way Minnesota used him. Shelter his ice time, play him with a defensively sound guy, and weaponize him on the powerplay. This guy is purely a stopgap for our younger guys anyways. Moving Jarnkrok makes too much sense given the cap situation, regardless of the fact that it certainly isn't ideal

He is a bottom 4 ofd. I like him, and I want him here - but for the most part he isn't worth getting worked up about.

I believe he is 🤷‍♂️

In general Timmins had a great story coming to us from Arizona but the signs were there Leafs were not sold on him why else would they trade for Schenn last TDL or sign Klingberg not giving him a spot.

If they had more cap space he would probs be safe but as of now they are over and need to make space and he makes the most sense rn.

Sucks but thats hockey. Hopefully they can get something for him or pass him through waivers as to not lose him for nothing

So were gonna trade a 20 goal scorer to keep Timmins who is not a top 4 Dman

Pass.

If the Leafs were to move from Jarnkrok it would be to make room for Kane but I just dont see it rn. Im not sold on Gregor nor feel he is a Jarnkrok replacement.

No, we're trading a 2.1 mil pure shooter, replacing him with a talented young sniper, and getting room for depth. Don't think that I'm in some kind of hurry to trade Jarnkrok, but I am willing to gamble on Robertson. Something has got to give, a 20 man roster just isn't feasible. We have guys we can take bets on.

I don't think it has anything to do with being or not being sold on a guy, just looking for other skillsets at the time

Maybe but in the end not worth getting so invested in a #7Dman

Hopefully we can get something for him or as mentioned pass him through waivers for the Marlies.

As even if we lose him we got Benoit and Lagesson who will be fine #7 guys till the TDL as for sure they gonna add another

Max Domi has scored a goal in a Leafs uniform.

Also, glad to see Lafferty working that PK magic. What an effort from Knies

Timmins might be the best breakout passer of Leafs D. Other warts still, and they’ve been evident in these games, but he can certainly outlet the puck/hit lanes. Not a strength of McCabe, Brodie, Gio these days. Rielly/Klingberg use their feet more. Closests probably Liljegren.

At some point you have to stop focusing on Timmins’ heavy feet and just acknowledge a lot of good offensive stuff happens with him on the ice

It’s crazy the amount of fans who are so comfortable dumbing Timmins.

He's certainly good with the puck on his stick. Definitely should be kept. But at the same time, Liljegren is playing really really solid hockey. I am seeing loads of fans wanting to give him away for almost nothing. Both should be kept and given some runway.

Thats a pretty lucky year if our #7 defenceman only plays 10 games. Having a better #7 is extremely important.

Yeah I have had high hopes for him. Klingberg better light it up because Timmins is looking like a 3rd pair guy who could do very well on the PP as well and not be great defensively.

Sure but remember by the time the TDL comes around that #7 will probs be an 8 or 9. No point in a 1.1m #7 Dman to play 10 games with our cap situation

Have Benoit or Lagesson there as a call up option for now and after the TDL it will probs be Gio. Would say Timmins but hes made it to where if they waive him hes gone so probs will be traded for something.

Cause as of now this is the Leafs Dcore

Rielly-Brodie
McCabe-Liligren
Gio-Klingberg

#7 = Nobody cant afford

Come the TDL they will probs go and add someone like Tanev or Demelo

Rielly-Demelo/Tanev
McCabe-Liligren
Brodie-Klingberg

#7 Giordano
