Quoting: aadoyle
And that cap space ensures Leafs can field a team and not be over.
As unless they decide to go 11-7 0 way of keeping him. But that would be silly
In general not worth getting to attached to a #7Dman. Trade him before the season for a low pick and move on
Gregor is probably getting a deal. A move has to be made to be cap compliant, and with Robertson looking poised to make the roster, I think a Jarnkrok trade is looming. Robby fills the same niche and the cap we save gives us flexibility for a 22 man roster. Call me crazy, but I don't love the idea of running 40 years old Giordano for 82 games and then also in the playoffs. Give me something like:
Bertuzzi - Matthews - Marner
Domi - Tavares - Knies
Gregor - Nylander - Robertson
McMann - Kampf - Lafferty
Reaves
Rielly - Liljegren
McCabe - Timmins
Brodie - Klingberg
Giordano
Samsonov
Woll
As much as I like Klingberg, I'd prefer him to be used in the way Minnesota used him. Shelter his ice time, play him with a defensively sound guy, and weaponize him on the powerplay. This guy is purely a stopgap for our younger guys anyways. Moving Jarnkrok makes too much sense given the cap situation, regardless of the fact that it certainly isn't ideal
