That’s 2 firsts, one that’ll be late in 24, and one that’s in 25. And two prospects that aren’t on the possible elite level. Like you aren’t gonna get very far on a 100 point player without at least offering your first or second or even third best prospect lol

A mid first, a late 2nd and a future mid first for 2 mid prospects isn’t getting you anything.

Your first for the next 2 years, and smith.

Yep, Will Smith.

Which I appreciate - being bad sucks. I'm happy to see SJ is at least doing a proper rebuild. So having some fun is great.

But as others have said, without Will Smith or Eklund, I don't see this going anywhere. Those firsts aren't going to help the Canucks for a while since one is going to be late, and the other is two years out.

As a Canucks fan, I would say - though it sucks - sticking it out being bad for a few more years is likely the best route. Trying to shortcut will cost you some elite young players most likely...don't be like us smile

Holy crap

Not even the SJ 2024 pick

Not even smith or Eklund

I offered 2 1sts, kulich and ostlund (or savoie and peterka) and offered kulich + ostlund + savoie + Rosen and had to relocate my family

The NJ one is conditional 1st (NJ making the ECF which is pretty damn likely), SJ's first next year (yeah 2025 is next season), Pitts could be mid-round, and I'm guessing you don't know much about Bords or Gushchin because they both are great prospects.

It's a very easy no from SJ. If you expect to get an elite prospect/player back, then it'll be one for one. Idk why you think you'd get elite players + multiple firsts for one elite player

I’m not even a Van fan, that’s how non biased this is. You want a top 5 center both offensively and defensively (he’s really good at defense too) you’ll have to pay. There’s no promises NJ makes it to the conference finals. This prospects aren’t ground breaking by any means. They can be good ones with still not making that big of difference for a player like EP. It’s hilarious how you are rating these prospects as “elite”. Bordeleau put up similar stats as Isak Rosen, as a full year older. Rosen isn’t “elite”. Same thing with Gushchin. Since when are .66 ppg players in the A as 20 somethings elite.

You have to actually watch prospects not just look up their stats. the cuda sucked and no one produced a lot. But if you actually watch Gushchin and Bords, you'd know they are much better prospects than Rosen. Nowhere did I say they were elite. I said if they were elite, they would be traded 1 for 1. Two 1sts, lets say the 2nd stays a 2nd, and two high end prospects is more than Petterson will get.

Tkachuk is better player than Pettersson (thus far) and he got a return of ONE first, a very mid prospect, and two solid roster players, though both were on expiring deals.

No way in hell would I trade:
- Bordeleau, Gushchin, TWO 1sts, and a 2nd with conditions to be a 1st for,
- ONE 1st, Huberdeau UFA1, Weegar UFA1, & Schwindt

This is a WAY bigger package, and that was seen as an overpay by Florida (not to mention he came with an extension)

it’s laughable you think MT is that much better than EP. EP is a top 5 forward in the world. So is MT. But acting like they are miles apart is weird.

You know who is ranked as a top 80 prospect by a couple outlets? Rosen. Don’t see your boys who are elite or aren’t cant really tell which. How many Rochester American games you watch this year to make the assumption both those 2nd and 3rd round prospects are better than a first round prospect? My guess is none.

Where did I say they're miles apart? I used MT literally as a comparable in value (though still the better player CURRENTLY). They're very close in value and talent level

And you mean Corey's ranking? He ranked our 7th round pick from 2023 as the 13th best prospect in our system over Robins who literally got NHL games this season and had a great AHL season. He listed Gushchin as 5'8" - 165 lbs when he's literally 5'10" - 185 lbs. His info on so many SJ prospects (outside of Smith and Bystedt) are completely outdated. Not his fault entirely given the Athletic doesn't have anyone covering the Sharks to bounce info off of.

I've said 100 times, they are NOT elite. That's the point I'm making. If Vancouver want's an elite player/prospect then it's going to be 1-for-1 or 1-for-1 + a little extra like a 2nd. But most teams aren't willing to give up elite talent or prospects so you get cumulative value such as multiple picks and good (not elite) prospects, or good roster players. And I actually watched a bit of Rosen after seeing him at the WJC so yes, I've seen a bit (not a lot)

Right and pretending what’s been presented as “too much” in this department is silly. It’s a little more than Eichel got (but not much) and considering he had a broken neck at the time, and isn’t as good at either end of the ice as EP, the package is clearly not too much.

And there’s more than one ranking where Rosen is above those two btw. A lot of them actually

Im not gonna disagree on the prospects, but in any case scenario where Pete is getting traded its prolly one where his value is dampened because people know he wants out
