TOR
  1. Necas, Martin
  2. Pesce, Brett
Détails additionnels:
Here is how I view this trade.

Pesce and Nylander both on expiring deals.

Liljgren and Necas both on cheap expiring deals and shouldn't be too hard to re-sign.

Carolina adds scoring up front in Nylander, Leafs add a much needed shut down defender to play with Rielly.

Both teams get young cheap players to replace what they lose.

Seems like a win win trade.

TOR
ARI
  1. Murray, Matt
  2. Robertson, Nicholas
Détails additionnels:
Arizona acquires Murray and buys him out. Murray agrees to this because he is then free to sign anywhere he wants.

Canes pass. Lilj doesn’t do much to replace the defense of Pesce and we aren’t likely to give Nylander close to 9-10 million without ever playing here first

This trade is absolutely plausible.

Actually based off of both.
Canes need a goal scorer like Nylander and trading for Liljegren negates what you would lose with Pesce.

Nylander will come in at 9, or at least that is what his ask is. He will probably get that with Meier getting 8.8.

Liljgren is a solid young defenceman, and the whole point of this trade is that Nylander > Necas, but Pesce is > Liljgren. However, the two players that are worse (Necas and Liljgren), are younger and will be easier to re-sign. This trade works for both teams if you actually think about it. If Liljgren was just as good as Pesce, then the Leafs would never offer this deal. Its called a hockey trade. Sometimes you need to trade your strengths to address your weaknesses.

Im glad I have a Toronto fan to explain what a hockey trade is. Again it isn’t a fit. The canes don’t have a defensive defender prospect that is going to smell the nhl any time soon nor a top 4 one to acquire. So we just got a lot more expensive at winger to put our defense at a disadvantage. Lilj isn’t covering Skjei’s issues

I mean you have Slavin don't you? One of the best defensive defenders in the league? Plus Pesce is going to be traded if he doesn't sign an extension come July 1st. Why do you think they acquired DeAngelo? Would you rather get a prospect who may or may not crack your top 4 in the future along with picks? Or would you rather try to address one of your needs which is scoring?

we acquired TDA to cover for Pesce? wut? We acquired TDA because we wanted another player to run the PP who we dont have to pay a bunch in FA for, dont have to commit multiple years for, and the guy already knows the system. It has nothing to do with Pesce.

I would rather go get a decent fit for futures than trade necas and pesce to get a very expensive piece.

TML you think AZ will take Murray to buy out at a cost of 5.3 m to also get robertson. Not a chance.

But you are taking a 28 goal, 71 point player back. 12 goals and 16 points isnt what Pesce is worth.

The Leafs win one round in a decade and they think they're the authority on what you need to win. You got beat by your own Zamboni driver, pipe down.

Canes had about 20 goals less than leafs last season. Think it’s 5th versus 7th or something like that. Without Svech for half season and patches for most. Think it’s overblown how much scoring they need. Need more scoring in the middle/bottom 6 and I wouldn’t say no to Nylander. Also wouldn’t really want to pay him 10ish when I can have Necas for cheaper and with more cost control. Value of deal isn’t bad but I think there’s better options from canes standpoint in more of a futures deal.
