All the other graphics work for me related to trades but not this one... Schenn guy gets 25, 26 goals with 55, 59 points but people are crapping on him? While Stepan is a 50ish point player who people celebrate even claiming he is a 1st line center Haha... IF can't score 30-40 goals, or get like 100 points or least 70 to 80 if can win a Selke then I don't see how can claim a 1st line center... Jeff Carter is more a 1st line center than Stepan just for the record. I don't see how Blues don't win this trade they ditch a bad contract for a player who can generate 20-30 goals with 50 to 60ish points with a cap hit lower than Dustin Brown among others . How does Stepan with a 6.5M cap hit get all this love while everybody seems to want to crap on Schenn ? Reading how he isn't offensive enough or this or that, even Luke Schenn was like a 5th overall pick who isn't lightning up many lamps but Coyotes protected him . This helps replace Perron, gives Blues a better chance to make Post Season again so their fans should be happy... Flyers will get another shot at the lottery to grab another top 2 pick it seems . Wonder if could add the salary cap hit when doings these trade postings so people can judge easier?
I mean, this trade helped St. Louis win a cup while Philly has managed to lose to a wildcard team in the first round lol
Regardless, hindsight is always 20/20 and at the time the trade looked much better for STL. Still a good trade for STL, bu Farabee and Frost are nice pieces for Philly.
Schenn won a Cup with STL and remains a viable 2C. While PHI got better value in the end, STL still benefitted from this trade and has a lot to be happy about.
Is it, though? The Blues got a Cup-winning piece who might stick around for the better part of a decade, plus the cap space to go get O'Reilly. For draft picks. That the Flyers used those picks wisely is great, good for them. Doesn't change the fact that the Blues dealt away zero active contributors for massive gains.
