It takes more than that to get Hart. Bourgault isn't worth the pick he was taken with. His production is far lower now that he's in the AHL where they actually play defense and hit each other instead of the all offense Q.

75 points in 43 games in the Q last year - close to 2 PPG
34 points in 62 games in the AHL this year - not much more than 0.5 PPG

I don't get the Philadelphia part of this. Why would they want a goalie with only one year left on his contract? Leave them out of it and I think it makes sense for Edmonton and Winnipeg if Winnipeg doesn't think they can extend Hellebuyck. Hellebuyck goes to Edmonton instead of Hart.

There's nothing in it for Winnipeg. They say no.

I agree with you if they can sign Hellebuyck. If not, it's a pretty good return for a one-year rental.

Not when the Jets are getting stuck with a 4 year $20 mil cap dump in Campbell and a tiny, disappointing winger.

But the Jets won't trade Hellebuyck as a rental he'll be traded to a team where he wants to extend to keep the price up.

Yamamoto is irrelevant. He's only in this to lessen the cap hit for Edmonton for next season (if you see my comment above, I'm taking Philadelphia out of this and giving Hellebuyck to Edmonton instead of Hart), then Winnipeg lets him go without a qualifying offer. Two draft picks, a prospect, and a starting goalie who's signed beyond next season are why Winnipeg says yes if they don't think they can extend Hellebuyck.

Campbell looked like he's still a #1 goalie in the playoffs, so I'm attributing his regular season numbers to adjusting to a new team. There's 20% retention on him which I think makes him at least a neutral asset, and if the Jets are having trouble keeping free agents then the fact that he's signed should be a positive.

Nope. It's an easy no for Winnipeg. Campbell is awful. He's always been a marginal backup, the only thing different now is that he's a marginal backup making $4 mil with 20% retained.

The only piece in the offer with any value is Bourgault and he's only okay. A 2nd is a 2nd, Yamamoto is worth maybe a 3rd or 4th and a 1st 3 drafts from now offers little value.

That's nowhere close to getting an elite goalie that is signing long-term.

There's simply nothing in it for Winnipeg.

So what's the story with Hellebuyck? Sounds like he wants out of Winnipeg but is willing to sign somewhere else instead of waiting for free agency, or Winnipeg doesn't think they can afford to re-sign him? What does he want?

It's hard to say. He said he wants to stay in Winnipeg, unless they go through a rebuild and Chevy days the Jets aren't rebuilding. So, I guess well see.
