I like Kidney, but he is small and lots of players have good years in the CHL (or any other developmental league) but do not project to be top NHL players. I think Montreal would get better by taking more NHL ready prospects like the ones listed above. I know I could be wrong about Kidney, but i would be willing to take that risk in a very deep draft year.

Was he dealt? To my eyes he's still a Hab and one fans want gone because he isn't good.

I guess I’ll need to explain it to you… the difference, and quite a large one at that, is Calgary was cash strapped and actually trying to make a run at the playoffs/cup. As evidenced by treliving making the moves that he did. Montreal literally has ZERO incentive to move a cup winning, albeit aging and oft injured dman, if it needs to be accompanied with any type of futures.

If all you value is points, go select every player in the top-20 of the QMJHL and fill out your teams roster that way. There’s more to hockey than that, but I guess youre just a casual 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well then you have no feel for why the fans want him gone. He’s a LD taking up a spot that could be used for development of one of our youngsters. It has nothing to do with his play, which has been more than fine for what he’s being paid, and for where he’s slotted into the lineup.

its not all about points youre 100% correct, but at 5.5 for 4 more years Josh Anderson doesnt do enough other stuff to justify a high of 32 points no matter how you try to spin it. not worth that at all.

Realistically, OEL wouldn't get moved. It would cost Vancouver too much to move him with our already weak prospect pool. When Arizona traded him, Vancouver and Boston were the only places he was willing to waive for. No reason for that to have changed, so the only place you'd be able to reroute him to is Boston, who doesn't have the cap space or need for him at all.

As he turns just 30 this month, I think his poor performance was due to injury rather than age.

It will become clear early next season whether he can still play at his former level. If his bum back precludes it and he's moved to LTIR for the season, some teams may see value in his acquisition.

As a Habs fan, I can attest that, last season, Edmundson was a liability on the ice. The question becomes whether it was due to injury (i.e. he can heal and return to form) or due to age (although he is still only 29.)

At the level he played prior to 2022/23, he has significant value to a contender. His contract is also of value if he ruled "out for the season" and is moved to LTIR. But on an NHL roster playing at the level he did last year, his value is negative---at any salary and taking into account his considerable leadership qualities and any other intangibles he may bring to the table.
