Habs offseason now Caufield is extended 8 years

Créé par: JeffGorton
Équipe: 2023-24 Canadiens de Montréal

Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Now we know Caufield is staying for 8 seasons. That gives the Habs the ability to take their time. First move would be to draft Michkov at 5. The Habs will have until he comes to NA to build the rest of the core. All that would be missing is an Elite RHD, Starting goalie if Monty isnt it and an Upgrade on C so the Habs can move Suzuki to the wing. (Where is playstyle would be best. Kinda like a poor mans Marner but with playoff pedigree)

So the next 3 years should be focused on acquiring as many top 60 picks as possible. By either trading players on the team who arent apart of the window or taking bad contracts

MTL
  1. Murray, Matt
  2. Villeneuve, William
  3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (BOS)
Détails additionnels:
Leafs get the Grit and playoff performer while getting rid of an awful contract. They need to go all out this season and with the cap only going up by 1m, moving bad cap will be expensive

And for those who say Anderson is a cap dump. Find me a 20+ goal scoring winger with his size and speed for under 5.5 million. All the FA options are either not as good or will cost more and for longer term.
TOR
  1. Anderson, Josh
Détails additionnels:
Habs buyout Murray immediately after trade
2.
VAN
  1. Dvorak, Christian
  2. Choix de 5e ronde en 2023 (CGY)
Détails additionnels:
Ive seen this trade a few times and I like it. Beau can be traded 50% retained at the deadline if he performs and could fetch a 2nd rounder at least
3.
DAL
  1. Armia, Joel
  2. Choix de 7e ronde en 2024 (EDM)
Détails additionnels:
200k difference with same term, both need a new team to hopefully stay in the NHL after their contracts expire

Adding a 7th for the 200k difference and Center for RW

Détails additionnels:
Cup winning bottom pair LHD for $1,750,000 is decent. They made it work with Jack Johnson and Eddy is better than him in every facet. Also team gets a new locker room DJ

Détails additionnels:
Habs give the 32nd pick and a very solid bottom pair D on his ELC to move up to 14th and eat Granlunds deal for 2 years. Added 2 4th rounder to sweeten the deal since the Pens need all the picks.

I was gonna say.....

Would sooner spend an additional $500K or so on Bertuzzi, whi is a year younger to boot.

All.for dumping Murray, but better ways to do it than 4 years of Anderson making about $1.5 million more than he should.

That DAL and VAN trades are pretty diabolical.

Armia and dvorakwill cost more than that, both have kind of tanked, and you're getting the better/younger/cheaper (take your pick) player back.

Bertuzzi scored 8 goals in 50 games last year. Not even close to the same player. And dumping Murray is gonna cost like an early 2nd rounder to dump for FC.

Except Anderson isn't a cap dump in NHL GMs minds. To them he is a big winger who skates fast and plays physical. Which to the old boys club that runs the NHL is valuable.

Like it or not but just about every insider has at one point reported on teams offering a 1st for him and the Habs telling them they'd need to add. So not a cap dump and is apparently valued at more then just a late 1st

the only person that has said hes been offered a first is kent hughes, hes driving up the cost of his player, hes smart, any insider got that info from hughes any gm that offered that should never work in the nhl again, hes a cap dump whether your bias habs glasses will let you see that or not, 5.5 m for a 3rd liner who cant crack 40 points, this trades a joke

Every team declines.

Thinking that Pittsburgh would move back from #14 to #31 to acquire waivers claim Kovacevic and dump Granlund when he could be bought out for $833,333 this summer is particularly egregious.

So just to get this straight, it wasn't only Hughes. Friedman, Frank Serivalle, Sam Constantine, Darren Dreger, Bob McKenzie all confirmed the same report.

And I'm sorry that facts hurt your feelings but I'm sure your coloured glasses will help you not be soft next time

hughes reported to them, IF Hughes did decline a first for anderson, then he should be fired. habs fans are the only fan base in the NHL that doesnt think anderson is a cap dump, yeah thats not biased. the fact the you said toronto needs to add to an already bad trade? yeah for sure not biased. absolutely delusional.

It's actually just basic logic, if the Habs wouldn't accept a 1st round for Anderson why would they accept it for him in a deal that includes another player worth his contract.

Also find it funny people think Anderson isn't worth a 1st when we have literally seen so many examples of big useless players going for 1st round picks. Size is always a desirable asset in the NHL and it's Anderson's main positive

You're right. Bertuzzi is better.

Anderson is a career 35 point guy. You cannot justify $5.5 million for 3rd line numbers. No way, no how, no doing.

Bertuzzi conversely, runs 45-50 points, making him much more a 2nd liner than Anderson ever will be. I can also point out his 30 goal season, or his near PPG pace with a much better Bruins club than Detroit was during his tenure.

I love Anderson's game. But there is absolutely no way you are going to convince me he is or ever was worth $5.5 million. One of thr worst contracts in the NHL.
