That's a brutal trade for Carolina. Slavin alone is worth as much as Marner if not more due to cap hits

Even if the value is there (don't think it is) Carolina isn't trading Slavin. He's way too valuable to what they do.

Hurricanes don't even consider it. Slavin is worth way more than Marner by himself let alone with Necas and a pick.

Your right we're not trading Slavin... the owner said it explicitly. Slavin is probably the most important player on the Hurricanes tbh

The difference between Martin Necas and Marner is 28pts and $8M in cap. Granted Necas will need a new deal after next season, but he will certainly come in under $11M and certainly for longer than the 2yrs Marner has left.

Those facts alone, should mean that Necas on his own, really is not that far off from Marner in terms of valuation.

Now, asking for a #1D plus a 1st round pick on top of Necas is completely insane.
