What comps do you have that this would be the return for Hughes? A blue chip prospect, a meh prospect, an expensive, aging winger that has no fit or value to the Canucks, a decent middle 6 player, and two 3rd round picks. Only one, maybe two pieces the Canucks would be interested in

Here is what I'd expect as a Hughes to Jersey trade.

Minimum would be Nemec and a 1st, with a few minor assets.

Also interesting could be Nemec + Bratt for Hughes and Demko

Canucks decline. Hughes is untouchable, and will most likely be Vancouver's next captain. Vancouver wants to contend and has no desire to sell. It would take a massive overpay to pry Hughes away from them, but this isn't enough to convince them. Nemec would be a good start, but the other pieces would have to be improved for Vancouver to part with their #1 defenceman and future captain.

There aren’t any comps because I don’t think a player like Hughes has ever been traded. Teams don’t typically trade a 23 year old top 10 dman. I can tell you it would take a lot more than your offer that only has one good piece coming to Vancouver. You can’t offer an underpayment and get mad when Canucks fans call you out for it

Why don’t you give me what comps you’re using then. Because a lot of the ones I could think of the players were either older (Karlsson, Subban), requested a trade (Tkachuk, Eichel, Laine/Dubois), or weren’t as good as Hughes (Jones, Hamilton, Debrincat, Laine/Dubois again)

The only area raymond is "better" is that he gets more power play time. (btw despite mercer playing his pp minutes with the second unit he stills produces at a higher rate than Raymond does with a man advantage)
