Leafs will probably look for a 2nd round pick in the 30s if they're going to do that kind of deal.

You embarrassed yourself with that Van offer. Alvin might just shut down the all phone communication after that.

Oof. Looks like you were looking for a homerun kinda post and ended up looking at it right down the middle.

Neither deal make any sense for the other teams. I get the idea here but you’re better off using the cap space to actually help the roster and sign some scoring. Might help the team get over the hump of the 3rd round that way

It's funny how people act like the Canucks aren't already over the cap and that I thought this was generous giving it's a 6 million dollar cap hit being moved before or at the draft may I add, so the Canes pay out his bonus too.

Myers isn’t going to be that hard to move. A $6m cap hit but cheap salary.. they won’t need to sweeten the deal THAT much. Money isn’t an issue for the franchise, they’ll pay the bonus and save the assets to move him.

And move him where? He's got a M-NTC. Can't dump him in Buffalo, Arizona, Anaheim etc. Can't buy him out either with that 5 mil SB.

It's funny how people act like the Canucks don't have two contracts that put them over the cap that will never play again, Moving 6mil cap hit for one year that is only being paid 1mil in real dollars won't take that much to dump.

1. How do you know what teams are on his no trade list? - you don’t.
2. It’s a no trade list without permission. Players waive them all the time. Nothing suggests he wouldn’t waive if Vancouver had an offer for a team on that list. You don’t know if he would or wouldn’t.
3. Voracek was traded at the deadline this year with a $8.25m cap hit this season and next (no retention on the contract), and $7.5m in real money next season. All it cost Columbus to move him was a 6th round pick.

3 strikes. You’re out.

Come on now. You are taking three picks and an NHL ready prospect for a guy who can probably net a 2nd at the deadline as well and is owed 1 million in actual salary.

Also we have almost 6 mil in LTIR. We need to make a small move probably but no need to give up huge futures to get out from Myers. OEL ya maybe.

Voracek is never playing again, his contract is insured, meaning everying he's paid, they get back.

I can probably safely assume someone that negotated trade protection into their deal wants to not go to the worst teams in the league, or places he's already had issues.

Players waive sometimes, but they also refuse to waive. Think Kadri to Calgary, Tavares anywhere.

Good try though

Any team that isn't on his M-NTC won't care about his actual salary. His cap hit is 6 million. In a flat cap world, that hurts a lot. Carolina got a PPG 7 million dollar player and were paid to take him last year. A guy that isn't worth 6 million is going to cost this at least

Except the Canucks aren’t over the cap. Pearson and Poolman are both LTIR contracts

No contending team should want anything to do with Myers. But there are 4-5 none cap teams that could probably use a vet RD who they can acquire a pick with and acquire another moving him at the deadline. And ya for a small market team a vet dman who can play 20 mins a night for 1 million is enticing.

Canucks aren't over the cap though. People look at CapFriendly's front page and assume they are, but that doesn't factor in Poolman or Pearson's LTIR space. Canucks can put together a 23 man roster under the cap without dumping anyone. If the Canucks want to move Myers, they'll pay his bonus and dump him on a cap floor team like Anaheim to help them reach the floor without spending actual money. Fans of both Vancouver and Anaheim are mutually in agreement of a deal that sends Myers and a 3rd to Anaheim for a 6th.

Which Myers M-NTC likely nix... let's put the 6 million of Poolman and Pearson aside and forget that one, both, or neither could play next season. 5.75 - 700k that they're already over the cap buy so call it 5 million in cap space. Still need to figure out Bear, call that 3 using the argument he's further along in development than a Sandin but not as good as a Dobson. Say a backup goalie costs 1. Still can't carry 23. Now, suggest they want someone better than Breisbois on the blueline, or Di Guiseppie, Dries, Aman up front... suddenly, they HAVE to move Myers. M-NTC likely nixs deals to Anaheim, Arizona and the leagues garbage. Carolina has space, definitely won't be on the no-trade, and can take it now. Using the logic that they got paid a Dylan Coghlan to take on Max Pacioretty last summer, this is more than fair

Here is proof that the Canucks can make things work without dumping anyone (https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/4205299). There were rumours of a potential Myers-Zaitsev swap at the start of the season coming from multiple reputable sources, and reports were that Myers didn't have Ottawa on his NTC but Zaitsev had Van on his. If Ottawa isn't on Myers NTC, then what reason do we have to believe a team like Anaheim would be on it.

Trading Myers in this deal doesn't make the Canucks an immediate contender. What is does do though is continue to gut one of, if not the worst prospect pools in the league. If this is really what teams want in return for taking Myers, the Canucks will just hold on to him and trade him 50% retained at the deadline to a contender for a pick. It's way too much to pay just to free up Myers cap space 1 year early.
