Seems like one of these deals that hurts both teams progression long term.
Chicago is trying to execute a slow and long rebuild and while they get juicy assets for trading down, it just does not fit their timeline. Also, you just don't pass on generational talents and Connor Bedard fits the timeline and fills the biggest hole a rebuilding team needs which is a 1C.
I also believe Fantilli will be a 1C, but he is no Bedard. I believe this trade hurts Anaheim as well. They are a year or two away from being back in the playoff conversation, but trading away a franchise player in Zegras and a pot. Top 4 defender in Zellweger sets the team back years. Take Fantilli, move Zegras to the wing and continue the rebuild.
