You do know that Tanner Pearson spent basically the entire year on the LTIR list after playing in only 14 games, is 31 years old, is an LTIR list candidate going into the summer, has only one season left on his contract which has a cap hit of $3.25 million, and may never play hockey again, right? Does that sound like a guy worth even one third-round draft pick, let alone two?

Canucks take that and run. Pearson is currently on LTIR and trending towards being LTIRetired. He's had major problems with his wrist and by the sounds of things, he's more focused on regaining proper use of his hand for regular life activities as opposed to playing hockey again.

I don't see what's in it for Arizona at all, they get Schmidt and his less than great contract, for Välimäki and a downgrade in draft picks.

Regarding the Devils trade, I just don't think it's very good for the Jets.
