I believe this is a three team trade scenario that doesn't work for any of the teams involved. Seattle has no business trading two capable defensemen for one when they are trying to shore up that area of the team. San Jose will be looking for a more futures based return for Karlsson, and Buffalo won't be retaining that much money for that long for just a 3rd round pick.
Similarly, offer-sheeting Dunn for 1 year at below market value that walks him to UFA status does nothing for him, the Sabres, or the Kraken. Vince Dunn will be sticking around in Seattle for years to come.
