Mode - plafond salarial: Basique

Description

Jarmo has said that the only way he trades the 3OA pick is for a 25 or younger 1C who is under contract for 5+ years. Only options I see are Aho (If he would sign an extension) or Pettersson (also if he would sign an extension). With that I have come up with the 2 trades below.

I do not think these are going to happen but these are the ONLY players Jarmo has said he would trade the pick for. Lindholm is too old. Matthews could be an option but I think its the least likely. Edmonton is not trading their 2 stars.

Look at what happened to Chicago when they traded to get Jones from us, they went to rush the rebuild and ended up flat on their face, that’ll be exactly what happens to Columbus if they try and rush it to be “good sooner rather then later”. Trust the process, Columbus looks like they could be building something that isn’t good for 2-3 years but something that could be good for the next 10.

I don't think there's any chance Vancouver will trade Petey. If for whatever reason it did come to it, the ask would start with Jiricek + one of Johnson or pick 3, then fill out the rest of the deal from there.

Yeah, I see Van as more of a chance to blow it up then the Canes. Only way Canes do it is if Aho and them cant come to an agreement on an extension. But from what I have read Aho loves his current situation so its very unlikely.

Vancouver have resisted a full rebuild for a long time, probably because of ownership. That ship has sailed when they traded for OEL imo or more recently with signing Miller. At this point it is best to power through.

Yes it's a big premature, but when you're moving someone whose in the top 10 C conversation and undeniably top 15, you need to at least have the hope down the line that you may get a player of a similar quality. Carlsson doesn't have that.

Canucks aren't rebuilding. Pettersson is basically the player you dream Leo Carlson can become. A 100 point elite 2 way center. Can't see the Canucks do this unless for some reason they decide to tear it down

I think if the Canucks were to entertain moving Petey, it would start at pick 3 and Jiricek. Unless they take a hardcore rebuild in which case it probably costs slightly less but still quite a bit

He’s in the 13-16 range imo, but you could argue all of McDavid, MacKinnon, Matthews, Draisaitl, Pettersson, Crosby, Barkov, Hughes, Point, Bergeron, Thompson, Stutzle, Eichel, Hischier, Hintz, and Zibanejad are better, which puts him outside of the top 15

Aho > Eichel, Aho > Hintz, Aho > Hischier, Aho > Zibanejad. That puts him 11. Bergeron is expected to retire, that puts him 10. Stutzle, Draisaitl, both spend large amounts of time on the wing which I'd argue pushes them down.

Hischer doesn't have the ability to control a game as Aho does and that showed in the Canes-Devils playoff series, Hintz hasn't proved enough, and Eichel... I still don't think so. Eichel doesn't have the defensive composure. He's a great player, but if you're asking me to pick between Eichel and Aho, I'm taking Aho.

Aho controlled the series, what? Carolina were the better team in 3 of those 4 games. If Bob doesn't have a .970 save percentage Carolina win that series. Hintz has not proven enough, he's great, but he's not proven he's a top 10 C, I'd have an issue putting him in the top 15 right now. Eichel is underrated defensively. He's not Draisaitl or McDavid in his own end (they're bad defensively, so many people don't understand that) but he's not better than Aho

He's 1 year older. It's a negligible difference. Hintz also has 24pts in the playoffs, leading the league. Aho has 12.
