Jarmo has said that the only way he trades the 3OA pick is for a 25 or younger 1C who is under contract for 5+ years. Only options I see are Aho (If he would sign an extension) or Pettersson (also if he would sign an extension). With that I have come up with the 2 trades below.

I do not think these are going to happen but these are the ONLY players Jarmo has said he would trade the pick for. Lindholm is too old. Matthews could be an option but I think its the least likely. Edmonton is not trading their 2 stars.

Canes tell you to pound sand. Canes are in their cup window, why should they move their 1C for a pick, just to select a guy who likely doesn’t make an impact for at least 2 years? Canes aren’t going to go back into a rebuild just because the Jackets want a 1C now.

CAR won't want to take a step back, and VAN would need a really good reason to move Pettersson, which would probably mean adding Jiricek and more. I don't think CBJ would agree to what the demands would be assuming that talks don't get immediately shutdown.

Matthews is the most likely target imo, and even then the chances are slim.

Yeah, I see Van as more of a chance to blow it up then the Canes. Only way Canes do it is if Aho and them cant come to an agreement on an extension. But from what I have read Aho loves his current situation so its very unlikely.

Elias Pettersson > Leo Carlsson.

Sebastian Aho > Leo Carlsson.

Neither Carolina or Vancouver make those offers.

Know that this is more of a hypothetical rather than realistically expecting a move like this, but I just don't see how one makes sense.

Carolina is in a window right now so trading their best forward for a guy that's not gonna play in the NHL this year even if CBJ added considerably just doesn't make sense for them as a team.

Vancouver moving EP makes more sense, but an offer like that isn't enough for Vancouver and Columbus can't afford to give up what Vancouver would want added without gutting their prospect pool too much for the deal to make sense on their end.

So lets say Fantilli falls to 3 cause the Ducks take Michkov? At that point its probs a mute point cause CBJ just jump on Fantilli but them signing Johnny last summer makes me think they want to compete now and not wait.

If Fantilli is available, different. I don't think I could be mad at Waddell for that if he knew Aho was not going to re-sign. That said, there's no way to replace Aho. There's no noe in free agency so he's going into the trade market. I don't think he could say no to Fantilli, but I also think that he'd have to have 65 other things lined up to even make it possible.

Yes it's a big premature, but when you're moving someone whose in the top 10 C conversation and undeniably top 15, you need to at least have the hope down the line that you may get a player of a similar quality. Carlsson doesn't have that.

Thats being a little prude lol. We do have the 2nd best prospect pool in the NHL and the 3rd OA this year. We have enough to trade for Petey

If the Canucks were to consider trading Petey to Columbus it starts with 2 of Johnson, Jiricek, and 3OA. Then they’d probably want 1 or 2 smaller assets added on as well

Aho isn’t quite in the top 10 C discussion, and I think you could argue he’s not top 15. He’s in the 13-16 range imo, but you could argue all of McDavid, MacKinnon, Matthews, Draisaitl, Pettersson, Crosby, Barkov, Hughes, Point, Bergeron, Thompson, Stutzle, Eichel, Hischier, Hintz, and Zibanejad are better, which puts him outside of the top 15

It's very likely he'll be our next captain and is a proven elite player. We're not trading him for prospects.
