Future Team with Smith

Description
We have alot of pieces that have potential, but not enough spots for people to get meaningful minutes. Would like to see us trade for a number 1 but this kinda how I see the team looking right now (defense pairings are off).

I think Suzuki at the wing would be interesting, and we could try to develop him into a mark stone type player.

Also in case you couldn't tell that not an actual trade with ARZ, just players that don't fit into the system. This is also how I see the team lining up in the future, not next year (Smith and Hutson are both going to NCAA next season).

This would be my absolute dream scenario if the Habs could shed all that dead weight but unfortunately cant see it all happening.

It's unlikely SJS passes on Smith, and why would you start him as your 1C right away lol

Dach is a winger, still peaks on the wing imo, smith jumping to 1c and that legit to out earn your other key cogs in the wheel are a interesting take, but you never know tkachuk seems to have jumped Dubois and laine of his draft class.

Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Smith.

There could be a chance SJS goes wayyy off the board, though.

Smith isnt going past pick 4, agreed.

The intrigue starts at 5

Smith will get around 3 x $950,000 typical ELC for a highend prospect. Plus Will Smith will play at least two seasons at Boston College. At the very earliest he won't be available until the 2025/2026 NHL season.

Carlsson had a hell of a whc, I’m still thinking your right on that list, still thinking mitchkov goes to Arizona at 6, or somebody gets Montreal to trade out of 5, or possibly sj jumps, probably waiting on smith anyway with college.

Only possible off the board pick SJ does is Ryan Leonard or Oliver Moore but I think they would trade back.

I heard from a few SJS fans that they are looking to draft some quality prospects with size. Don't know how true that is though

Dvorsky is a great two-way option, I had him falling to 8 and Washington nabs him. Could go higher though.

All actual Sharks management has said is that they want competitive, smart skill out of this draft. Obviously our pool lacks elite size in the forward group outside of Bystedt and Lund.

Honestly Id be kind of upset if they left Michkov on the board but my best guess is they take Smith if hes there.

ask the coach and his teammates if he is good.. stats only show so much and with our walking wounded we never had a full lineup to have lots of goal scoring...I bet he scores 25 this year and get his 20 assists

I would love for him to do that but it wont change that we finish bottom 10 in the league. The problem isn't that he's a bad player, he just doesn't fit with our timeline. If the rest of our team was 2-3 years older I would love to have him but were wasting his prime years now

i get your point but if you look at the teams in the finals right now they have alot of older players as well.. you need a mix.....plus montreal will not retain salary for the next four years and i dont think anyone is offering value like when we traded petry for matheson... so i expect he wont get traded and i will be happy.

Apparently, a team offered a first plus for him, which I would do in a heart beat

these types of players are very rare...fast and hitters who can score twenty goals and pla playoff style games.... there is anderson , Hyman, wilson, and probably a few more... maybe one day slafovski... there just isnt alot of them and check their salaries... these guys all got paid.... montreal needs bigger forwards with speed and that is why a first wouldnt get the job done and retained salary is out of the question for 4 more years.
