That’s fair! I believe we could get at least a third for Ceci. If not, then in this scenario, we get the best thing we can as it is just to dump cap to fit in our resigns, trades, and UFA signings into the team.

Okay, could also swap Nurse-Peeke, and Ekholm-Bouchard around as well. Give Peeke less time, but he still plays in a good defender in Nurse. I like Ekholm, and Bouchard together too much to split them up ahha. Thanks for the feedback!

Also, it shouldn’t cost a second to swap Kulak and Peeke. It should cost a third. The Oil could use a RHD and the Jackets could use a LHD. Kulak is still a solid d man.

Kulak is, but you have to give to get. Peeke is WAY better than Ceci in my opinion, and would fit better with Nurse. They need a LHD, and we need a RHD like you said, however, Peeke is younger on a very good contract, and good RHD are harder to get, so that’s why the second is there. Gotta add a bigger incentive for them to trade him, because they don’t absolutely need to trade him, they could technically hang onto him. Also, if he is available, teams are gonna offer a lot more than a decent defender, and a third.

I see your points. Peeke was a 2nd rounder years ago and has really only recently become a pretty decent defensive d man in this league. He’s young and definitely will be serviceable for years to come, but the book on his game seems to be out. With Jiricek, Ceulmans, and Boqvist on their RD side they’ll probably be moving Peeke sooner rather than later. A Kulak swap for a comprable RHD can most likely happen without spending a 2nd. Again, if he were a RHD Kulak wouldn’t be going anywhere. Maybe CBJ can toss in a later round pick, if the Oil are spending the 2nd. I just feel as though that 2nd can be used elsewhere for more of an impact. Good discussion, man. 🤝

I see what you mean. I respect that. I am very high on Peeke, and I just want an upgrade who can play with Nurse honestly. A later pick could work to balance it out a bit more too. They technically could hold onto Peeke, but they will have to trade him especially once Jiricek comes up, I agree. I would love to see a trade like this, as it is good for both sides, and not just one. The base of the trade is good in my opinion, however, like you said, there could be improvements, and little pieces added here and there to make it more even. Very good discussion!
