What do you think Dubas will do

Description
Curious what you guys think Dubas will do if he gets the job. I really do think he is the right guy for the role and trust whatever he does, even if it's not the path I would've taken. Here are my questions for predictions though:

- Will he or won't he trade the 1st?
- Will he bring back Jarry or go with other goaltending?
- How will he handle some of our bad contracts?
- Will he make a massive move? Trading Guentzel or extending him?
- Will he rebuild, go all-in, or focus on the future while trying to remain a contender?

Very interesting and exciting times for us!

if thats what it takes to start the rebuild and not move Pickering, 14th overall or next years 1st as well as not give Guentzel an extension into his late 30s then so be it. Tank for Celebrini or Eiserman

I am curious that Crosby met with Dubas along with Pens leadership. To me, it suggests going all in and Dubas has no problem moving draft picks. The flip side, Crosby for Matthews and the NHL world loses its mind.

Because they weren;t his mistakes he can either dismantle it and sell off whatever he can OR do his usual Maple Leaf act and bargain basement shop with a 50% hit rate.

The prospect pool is weak, so theres not tons of help in the immediate future.
Young-ish guys like Nylander, Poehling, etc... are looking average at best, in limited roles
The current group is old, and more likely to deteriorate than improve
The core, the KEY players are all old and unlikely to improve with age, can only hope they stay stable
Some of the big contracts have little to no value in trade: Carter, Petry, Granlund
All of the big ticket aging stars have NTC/NMC, because if it wasnt sentimental or the NTC/NMC, the keys to a great rebuild would be moving Malkin or Crosby. (Letang is signed way too long)

With a small prospect pool, they shouldn;t move any picks, but also arent going to get enough picks back for their moveable commodities. Weak UFA crop this year, and dont think Dubas usual duct tape fixes really help the team. Theyd need way too much to go right AND continued health on an old team AND their limited youth to OVERACHIEVE to have a better result than 2022-23.

Dont know, but a new GM isn;t held by the mistakes of the old GM and doesn;t have to possess the loyalty to bygone successes

While I'm open to the idea of contending, I generally agree with this. There's not really an easy fix that makes us a contender. Not even close really. I could see Dubas making massive massive changes.

My top choice is to rebuild, for sure. I'm not entirely opposed to trying to contend, but 1 year max. And I think we almost have to trade Guentzel this summer regardless. But if I had my choice I'd just go for full blown rebuild.

IMO, Dubas was a poor GM. Poor negotiator, poor trader, poor drafts. (when he had picks). Unless he has learned, why would things improve for his new team? If he hired immediately after his Leaf gig, doesn't it sorta tell the new owners.....business as usual for Dubas.
