Matthews gets more than that even as a rental.

Canes trade probably has solid value but Canes have no reason to trade Pesce.

Both of their guys are UFAs. I think the value is fair for both sides, especially if Nylander signs there.

If Matthews said I only want to go to Colorado, then this could be what TO gets should they be looking to trade him.

He has no say for now. Only starting on July 1 Matthews can dictate where he wants to go.

There's no way to fit Matthews within the cap for the Avs, pointless exercise.

It’s not tho. Its a strong offer and It’s more than they should expect for him with no extension. Try to come to reality

Girard is overpaid and a cap dump. Decent puck mover but terrible defensively. Avs won last year when he got hurt.

Newhook? A small 22 year old forward with 30 points? Players like this are a dime a dozen.

And a low first?

For Matthews who’s 25, 6 foot 3, 208 pounds, has averaged over 50 goals per 82 games since coming into the league, scored more goals than ANYONE during that span, led all forwards in blocked shots, is good on the dot, was a plus 30, 8th in takeaways….he battled through a wrist injury this year and put up 85 points in 75 games. He’s 22nd ALL-TIME in PPG (Nate McKinnon is 39th) I could go on but I don’t really feel the need. Matthews is a top 5 player in the league and only 2 — that offer is a complete joke. The Leafs have no interest in Girard or Newhook especially at the cost of Matthews — one of the best players in the game.

Matthews has won exactly nothing. Do you understand Matthews is a UFA 🤣 he’s gonna either break torontos cap even more or test the market. No one cares about all the regular season numbers you cited, what has he done while it matters?

But contract status governs his value, how hard is that to understand? He’s not gonna sign an extension as part of a trade so why would you give up massive assets for a rental who you can just bid on if he reaches UFA anyway. The list of teams who can afford him and are in a cup window is very small. Look at what MVP caliber Taylor hall went for as a rental, according to you he should’ve gone for 8 first picks and keller. Leafs fans and delusion go hand in hand

How many years did it take McKinnon to win a cup?

How many years did it take Stamkos to win a cup?

How many cups have McDrai won? Gaudreau? Pasternak? Robertson? Petterson? Panarin? Tkachuk? Hughes? Kaprisov? Hintz? Fox? Etc. Etc.

You don’t get better by trading your best players. I’m glad you are so concerned about Matthews future but the Leafs aren’t trading him for garbage no matter how much you beg.

Not saying they will, but that’s the value they will get if they do. Most likely he will end up breaking their cap even more than currently. Since he only cares about regular season numbers and his own image he will continue to bow out in the first couple rounds year after year.

What was NM’s cap hit up until this year? Exactly. Does Toronto have a generational defensemen and a roster that’s well constructed and actually deep? Nope. You can’t just overpay guys who all choke under pressure and expect them to win given enough time 🤣 to win in the playoffs you need a specific kind of team

Why didn’t the AVs trade McKinnon before he won a cup? Took him 9 years! 9 years he won nothing!

Well, don’t worry the Leafs won’t send to the AVS because we wouldn’t want him to eat up all their cap space!

Can you even read? I said they probably won’t trade AM. And
It took him 9 years and he won with a team which is actually good. You expect the leafs to win with a team that has massive weaknesses with AM who is a worse, less competitive player who will be costing twice as much? 🤣

I don’t expect the to trade a 25 year old top 5 player in the world and get better. Especially for mediocre players like Girard and Newhook. Matthews has more goals in 7 years than McKinnon has in his career. Matthews is a great player in his own right. He didn’t win the Hart, Lindsay and 2 Rockets for nothing. Seriously, I wouldn’t want Girard for free, Newhook is approaching bust territory. 30 points with all the ice time he had this year? Leafs need to get bigger and Girard/Newhook aren’t that.

Ah yes, with Girard out, and Matthews in, and Landeskog on LTIR, the Avs would have... 13.7 million in cap space, which would have a roster of:

Lehkonen - Mackinnon - Rantanen
??? - Matthews - Nichushkin
??? - ??? - ???
??? - ??? - O'Connor
???

Toews - Makar
??? - Manson
??? - ???
MacDermid

Georgiev
Francouz

You gotta think Byram (RFA), get at least 4 million, so 9.7 million for the last 9 spots, including a top6 winger.

AKA not enough cap space to get Matthews, so pointless exercise.
