Thinking the Ducks take Armia and Pitlick is pure fantasy land. Montreal can keep their bad contracts.

Canucks pass

That’s a wild overpay for Dubois

And you’re not getting any assets for Gallagher. He costs a 1st+ to dump

wouldnt group Pitlick and Armia's contract into the same group, Arima a complete cap dump, Pitlick at 1.1 mil is still capable of producing 25-30+ points which at 1.1mil is fine. That being said it will cost atleast a 3rd to dump armia, probably more and i do agree that the deal makes no sense for the ducks.

On a side note Gallagher is not getting traded, the only course of action for the habs is to live with that contract, it will cost too much to move and they dont need the cap space right now. They will in a few years and an reevaluate then since Gallagher may be permanently on LTIR by that point.

Canucks decline. Not interested in Edmundson, if we want an injury prone 3rd pair LHD we'll just resign Dermott for free instead.

Yeah, I wasn't necessarily saying Pitlick has a bad deal although I'm sure it sounded that way. The issue with Pitlick is the Ducks have no room for him. McGinn, Silfverberg, Leason, Carrick, etc. Ducks have too many bottom six guys to take on another one.

Armia for Comtois would at least be roster spot neutral so that kind of, sort of makes sense until you look at the contracts. Then it blows up. 4.8M in real money to Armia this season... oof that's BAD.

WPG would have the paperwork for that trade in your hands before you hung up the phone.

Hawks decline. Nobody is paying anything to acquire Gallagher. That contract costs a 1st plus to dump.

Ya thats fair Pitlick is very much that 12th/13th forward for most teams as he doesnt bring the physicality to the 4th line that most teams want. I agree with the rest, Armia would probably have to be packaged with a solid prospect or a 2nd to bring back Comtois but even then i think Ducks have other priorities then leveraging some cap space for a 30-45th pick.

Holly overpay for PLD. Rebuilding teams don't give away a 5 OA pick.

Wind, you are right, Mtl will not give up #5 and as you say, why? But in saying that, many of their supporters believe all the players on the Mtl roster are Beliveau, Lafleur talent level. Most would keep all the good pieces and trade only the players that actually are of no help to the other team (really, one sided deals). My understanding of how a trade works, its suppose to be a "win/win " for both teams.

But in my opinion, if trade discussions in the real world world are happening as they are in here, I hope the Jets take a "strong pass away from Canadien talks" and turn to other teams, such as Carolina. I believe if the Hurricanes lose out to Florida shortly, PLD could be the missing piece that could help get them to the next stage. Checking on their roster there are RD's, young prospects, draft pick(s) that would interest the Jets. Just saying!!!!

Very true. None of us have any idea of what is actually being discussed and there's definitely more on the table for negotiations than what Montreal fans will acknowledge.

As you said, trades at least have to work for both sides, with give and take going both ways.

It won't be a deal like 99.9% of Montreal fans believe, where Montrealare gives up only prospects and players they certain no longer have the potential to play in the NHL and fill no needs for the Jets. It will be a deal like 99.9% of Jets fans say, reasonably fair for both teams that addresses at least some needs for Winnipeg.
