EDM
  1. Ceulemans, Corson
  2. Chinakhov, Yegor
Détails additionnels:
EDM gets a solid, local RD prospect and a cheap, young W with some skill that's looking for an opportunity with scorers. Hurts to lose Broberg but Nurse, Ekholm, and Kulak are a strong left side locked up for the (current) McDavid window.

Is this feasible? What additions to each side make to complete it?
CBJ
  1. Broberg, Philip
  2. Yamamoto, Kailer
Détails additionnels:
CBJ adds a higher ceiling LD that's already pushing into the NHL to their pool alongside a middle-6 complementary F that costs between 600k and 1.1mil too much. Losing Chinakhov would hurt their depth but his established scoring level isn't so high as to make him impossible to replace.

Is this feasible? What additions to each side make to complete it?
2.
EDM
  1. DeMelo, Dylan
Détails additionnels:
EDM aims to improve on Nurse's partner and open up cap flexibility for the following summer. However, I'm uncertain as to how much value to attach to Ceci in order to get the deal done.

Assuming WPG would be open to moving him, how much does EDM add to get this done?
WPG
  1. Ceci, Cody
Détails additionnels:
WPG aims to add some manner of significant asset in exchange for the player downgrade. Ceci is still a competent 2nd pairing Dman so he could be flipped in the final season of his contract for another asset.

Jackets definitely don’t do that.
Would rather have both of our guys over either player.
Especially since we are rebuilding and both of our players are younger than either you are sending.

I could see the Ceulemans - Broberg swap making sense as they are both young and play opposite sides, but absolutely not to including the wingers.

Huh, so Broberg isn't of interest despite his pedigree, AHL performance, and the fact that he's a LD?

I wouldn't do a Cuelemans for Broberg swap 1-for-1. Interesting that you hold Chinakhov in such high regard. Could you elaborate on why?

Just to be clear, there's no reasonable addition to Ceci that would make that trade palatable in your eyes?

I can't see there being anything reasonable that the Oilers could add that would get the Jets to agree.

DeMelo, like Lowry, is worth more to the Jets than anyone would want to pay for them in a trade. He's just not a good target.

Chinny was injured most of the year last year but showed promise early in the season before he went down. When he came back he was playing very well in the AHL and was playing injured as well. He's worth more than a player Edmonton needs to shed in order to make other moves this off season and whos 2.5 years older.

No one that you would want to add. It would take something like Demelo for Ceci and... a 1st or 2nd at least, but probably a more valuable prospect. I would say Holloway or Broberg, but doubting EDM would do that. WPG doesn't want Ceci's contract and he was one of the worst Oilers all year, so it would take more to offload him. Definitely a 1st or 2nd or a very decent prospect about to jump into the NHL in the next year or 2 or someone currently playing that would fit, and no... NOT YAMO.

Mhm, I get that he's definitely worth more than Yamo but I'd counter that so too is Broberg worth more than Ceulemans- especially given Columbus' depth at RD. Of course, CBS also has Mateychuk, Svozil, and Knazko en route so fair to assume that CBS prefers a more established LD target?

I've stated a number of times around these boards but the Ceci hate is disproportionate, in my opinion. He definitely wasn't one of the worst Oilers all year. The guy held his own just fine on the top pairing with shutdown duties through the regular season. Playoffs were another story, of course, but how much of that was due to his apparent injury or not is up in the air.

That having been said, your position is yours to hold and I don't intend to try to convince you otherwise. I know the value that Demelo brings, but I didn't suspect he was held in quite this high of regard.

That's pretty much it. There's not much point in acquiring a young LD because Mateychuk and Svozil are already right there as young LD. What they need is someone established to bridge the next 2-3 seasons until they're both fully ready to take on NHL roles.

I think we'd like to get more of a veteran IMO. We'd probs kick tries on Hanifin, Girard, Matheson, and maybe even see how Svozil plays in camp before we kick tires on Broberg. Knazko probs will forever be a AHP/depth defenseman and Mateychuk is still over a year away, probs 2.

China has shown a lot of growth in his game from his first games 2 season ago till now. He is still young and could be a good player for us that fits our timeline. Yams is a decent middle 6 guy who as you said is slightly overpaid, but in this case nhl ready wingers aren’t a massive need. So taking the younger player with higher upside is definitely the better bet for Columbus.

Broberg is a nice piece and I would do a cc for broberg swap as LD is a position of need compared to RD. However I would be hesitant. Cc is almost 2 years younger than broberg. (1 year and 11 months.) and just reached the ahl. I like the upside he has and how well he played on a god awful badger team.
Broberg was a high pick but has not been stellar in his nhl games, 7 points in 46 games last year.

This move for the jackets is to move on from a right shot 20 year old defensive prospect for a 22 year old left shot defensive prospect who is alittle closer.
To be honest we’d be better off moving cc for a defender who is in their prime who can play top 4 right now. Instead of hoping broberg can.

I think the value gap between Chinny and Yamo is bigger than Broberg and Ceulemans. But like the other person stated, Broberg doesnt address any need for us, its just basically moving a prospect from RD to LD. Which i could see, but it would be pretty much a 1 for 1. If Jarmo really wanted to do the swap, i could see maybe adding a high pick.
