Description
Just trying to keep it simple. One for one. It's hard to trade a player of his caliber and not make it crazy complicated with multiple pieces.

Questions...
1. Which one would you do?
2. Which one is a hell no?
3. Would you trade Nylander for any of these deals?
4. Which one is most likely to be traded?

Liane isn't close to Marner. You need to add a 1st rounder and a top prospect. Leafs wouldn't want Liane anyways with his lazy a ss work ethic. If any team is only offering one player for Marner at least a 1st rounder and top prospect is coming to the leafs as well.

BOS 1st is locked in at 28, Ducks second is locked in at 33

Take out second out and it still isnt enough to pay Murray that much to be a backup/3rd goalie

Jackets have no interest in marner anyways so this is moot

Would you do Murray and B’s 1st for B’s 2nd?

I dont think we're in a position to take on money from anyone for anything until we get Z and Terry signed.

Taking on a contract, especially one the size of Murrays would cripple Verbeeks leverage and negotiating power, it would just be poor cap management

I dont think taking a goalie at all is a good move, we can sign a better back up for a fraction of the cost.

For cap dump trades like this, I dont think theres a trade fit between ANA and TOR anymore, the cap TOR needs to ship out isnt a position we cant afford to be paying over 10M on, which we would be if we took Murray at his full contract

Murray's buyout is $687,500 this season and $2 million next June, so I would make the Boston exchange.

You can't make that call in a vacuum, you have to know who is on the board at 28.

The Ducks recent track record of 28-ish picks has been low return that is for sure. Larsson, Steel, Tracey, and Perreault. All NHLers to some degree but not a single difference maker (yet). If that's the caliber of prospect we can reasonably expect just keep the 2nd IMO.

Of course Corey Perry was a 28th pick so there is the flip side. Rakell and Theodore too fall into the success category.

A buyout is also 5.3M in real money over those 2 years. It will be interesting to see if Verbeek can persuade ownership to buy draft capital like that. My guess is that after a year of drawing 14k at the gate that the answer is no, but we'll see.
