Unfortunately Carter has a full NMC so most likely blocks any trade to a team that is blowing it up. Even if he waives - I think the Pens would probably pass. A slight overpayment in my opinion.

That is a severe overpay for Ehlers.

Ehlers has not broken the 60 point mark since 2017-18. He's not worth anything close to this.

The assumption that he is worth this is based on what he probably COULD produce, but he just hasn't done anything concrete that justifies him being worth more than a first round pick. He could easily be a PPG player, but he hasn't done that ever. He's only broken 60 points twice. He has had a few seasons where he has produced at a pace that would break 60 points if he played an 82 game season, but durability factors into his value as well.

18-19 - 37p in 62g = 49 point pace
19-20 - 58p in 71g = 67 point pace
20-21 - 46p in 47g = 80 point pace
21-22 - 55p in 62g = 73 point pace
22-23 - 38p in 45g = 69 point pace

And his point totals the last couple years would probably be better if he was playing more than 14 minutes a night. Sure there's injury questions, but it's a contact sport, everybody gets injured at some point. I'd be all over this trade, especially if the 24 first is top 10 protected like the poster said

Honestly, wouldn’t be surprised if Winnipeg doesn’t even move him to begin with. They don’t need to. Scheifele, Hellebuyck, and Wheeler seem to be the three they’re worried about moving right now.
