I doubt Marner is moved. As of July 1 he has a full NMC and with him living out his dream of playing for his childhood and hometown team, he likely won't move it when the team is still a top team every year. It's likely Nylander that's moved

In fairness, the way that fanbase treats the team and it's stars he may want out...and he clearly has a bond with Crosby and would assume it's a player he looks up too, plus the possibility of Dubas taking the GM role in PIttsburgh i wouldn't say it's far off. The cost however is the biggest question imo.

Marner will never be traded. Don’t listen to all the outside noise. Marner is one of the best players in the NHL. Unless he demanded a trade (which would never happen) or we decide to rebuild, he’ll never be traded.

I definitely don't hate it. Marner is truly elite and would be great with Sid. For some reason I think Nylander and Mathews are more likely to be moved than Marner.

Honestly I think you may have gone a little to much on the Pens side of things. I don't think I would go more than Guentzel, a first, plus one of the other assets listed. Not that Marner isn't insanely good - I just think with his cap hit giving up that much isn't worth it to me. There's a limit where I would just rather keep Guenztel and sign another 5mil forward and keep the assets.

EDIT: But if Marner is actually available that would be insane and they should absolutely take a hard look at him, obviously. He's elite on both ends of the ice - a ridiculously good player

Id personally rather see 2-3 good players than 1 great players for 10.9 mil, The way the pens are built rn, that extra 5mil could go a long way in the bottom 6 + you keep Guentzel for the top 6

I dont completely disagree. When you have an older team like our's having depth is very important. Wouldn't mind being built similar to the Kraken where they have basically four 2nd lines. But if we really want to contend we need to do something very bold. I dont think signing some free agents to fill in will get the job done.

I mean for Marner's 10.9 mil, We could have a combo of Guentzel (who is in this deal), a Michael Bunting or Erod type 3rd liner, plus a 4th liner like Noel Acciari. Like I said, I feel like the pens are better off geeting depth wether than spending on a high money player.

I don’t think this trade makes sense for either side…
Both teams are changing management though and need a change of how the team is build so I don’t see them being a star for star trade match up…
The pens have a tiny window while the leafs still have a realistic 7 years to win so it just doesn’t make sense for the leafs here
