From what I've read, I doubt PLD would extend in Carolina if he is looking for a max term deal. He'd probably be interested in cities to live in like Montreal, Boston and New York as places that would which would suit his lifestyle and be close to home if he is signing for the maximum length. If I were to make an extended speculative list, I would add LA and the Florida teams, but we are getting farther away. Whether teams in any of those markets are willing to trade and have assets the Jets want are different questions altogether.

The speculation will be entertaining in the run up to the draft.

The Canes management bunch would likely trade for him as a 1 year rental, which is a lower acquisition cost, QO him, and then try to re-sign him in January. We aren’t much for signing huge contracts until we know the player fits. Also helps us with contract flexibility too. Get Necas and Aho re-signed in August. We will know if we can keep PLD long term or just rent him.
