Probably need a mid round draft pick going to SJ. Maybe a 3rd if they are happy to get rid of Barbanov and taking the cap hit of Goodrow.

Rangers add at least a mid round puck

Barbanov has significant trade value, while Goodrow is a severely overpaid fourth line winger/center. I’m not saying this to hate on the rangers, but a fourth line “center” who can’t win face offs is just not going to have positive value. Like ever.

Literally zero sharks fans have this interest. ZERO. Why take on that much more cap for a less productive overpaid 4C?

Why? Because Ranger fans have no respect for other teams cap, or Goodrow's M NTC, and in this case other team player's value.

Barabanov is a top 6 player for us (likely a middle 6 for a playoff team) and Goodrow is a bottom 6 making a mil + more a season. Sharks would never swap them 1 for 1. We do like Goodrow and he’s a great depth guy for a playoff team… but sharks aren’t a playoff team so this doesn’t make sense.

You need to pay to move Goodrow and need to pay for Bara.

Rangers need to add a high pick in this draft or the next. Sharks would retain too if it was a future 1st. Could probably add a 3rd.

And if they did, I presume there was an asset attached to that dump and San Jose wasn’t sending a top 6 forward the other way. That’s just ridiculous

Also, filter out the feed to just sharks central teams and none of them have Goodrow to San Jose. All of the Goodrow to San Jose trades are made by rangers fans making their lineup moves

A Goodrow Buyout provides 100 %Cap relief for the next 2 years. Rangers would go that route before packaging major assets with Goodrow.

Then your issue is if you want Bara and at what cost.
