Hard pass on any trade that sends Risto to Vancouver.

That Farabee Risto trade is absolutely terrible from a Flyers standpoint lol how on earth do we win that trade? Garland and Myers are basically cap dumps and we get a 5th round prospect and a third? That’s literally not even good enough for Farabee let alone to send Risto with him lol good lord

Risto has negative value. No one would take him in a trade without including a cap dump as well. Myers would be that but he only has 1 yr to Ristos what 4 more? Garland is good middle 6 fwd. Contract is fine. Not a pure dump by any means. Farabee too seems to have stumbled and has a pretty big contract. It doesn't favor Vancouver by any means.

Yeah ur just wrong lol. Flyers aren’t looking to get older and certainly aren’t going to trade Farabee for an older player. Risto also doesn’t have negative value according to half the GM’s in the league that wanted to trade for him and the reported 6 that were offering a 1st round pick for him before the Flyers did. You can think 1 thing but GMs think differently, that trade sucks for the Flyers. Flyers also have too many middle 6 players we don’t need another and trading Farabee after a big surgery and a down year makes no sense

I agree that trading Farabee isn't a great move, but Risto is definitely negative value, or at the least, extremely little value.

If he didn’t have negative value when 6 GM’s wanted to trade a 1st rounder for him, how would he have negative value coming off of his statistically best season in the league? Come on man that deal as a whole sucks and Risto doesn’t have negative value to GMs even if you think differently

I'll admit Dom's model is flawed, especially when it comes to evaluating defensive defensemen, but Risto's defense does not rate out well.

Thats fine but mostly all pundit spit out the coffee they were sipping when they saw Risto's contract. As an expiring sure some top ranked team might give up a first for some size but now that he's signed no one would pay much for him. Same like Myers. At the deadline he's prob worth a 2nd to the right team. Or at least he has some value where as for all of the last 4 yrs he's had negative value in terms of trading him. So ya Farabee for Garland. I value Farabee's potential but we'd have to see him show flashes of who he was again before I'd love making that trade especially with the length of contract. Risto and Farabee represent a huge gamble. Myers and Garland represent cap space with Myer expiring and Garland just is what he is a pretty good middle 6 fwd on an ok contract. You know what you're getting.

I agree with you but ur last statement says it all. “We know what we are getting”, yeah 2 players that don’t help us at all and make us and older team. They need to get younger and get picks/prospects and that deal does none of that. Farabee is worth more than that deal and they aren’t going to pay someone to take Risto when they can wait out his contract then flip him at a deadline

Fair. And I wouldn't do it from the Canucks POV because of the cap commitments to two unreliable players.
