I can't imagine Washington would consider this trade, at worst they can hold onto a quality middle-6 winger they recently extended and let Mantha go after the year if he struggles, and they don't get that same flexibility with Rust if he continues to struggle. Either way, Rust wouldn't waive his NMC so it doesn't really matter.

This is my exact reasoning as to why I can’t see WSH having remotely any interest in Rust.

What do you think they'd have to add? Was gonna throw in Benard Docker too. What do you think about idea for Pinto for 3C.

I think it’s more of us taking out one of POJ or Nylander and then adjusting the deal from there. Absolutely can’t afford to lose both tho in one offseason.

Personally I'm more high on Poulin + Smith as far as our prospects go, but I see what you are saying. Even though I feel that way POJ and Nylander still are both good to have

That's a tough one. Ottawa would say no because Guentzel doesn't really fit our plans and Pinto is a big part of the future, while G is soon to be on the wrong side of 30 and who knows what he can or can't do when he doesn't have Crosby on his team.

Guentzel is obviously a far better player than Pinto but the trade just doesn't really make sense for us.

Pinto is probably untouchable unless a lion's share is offered up or if we cant afford him w Debrincat

You’re forgetting the part where Guentzel is soon to be a ufa and looking for a longterm deal into his late 30s . While Pinto should become at the very least a very solid 2 way 2C. And we need a goalie , not another high salary forward

it’s definitely interesting for the Sens, without a doubt. Pinto isn’t “untouchable” but in the “it’d have to be a huge overpay that is REALLY worth it for the Sens” territory. Guentzle at 3M is obviously a really attractive option. I think the Sens have to say no just because Pinto will likely be really cost-effective beyond just next year, and Guentzel’s gonna be on the wrong side of 30 for most of a probably very long and pretty expensive contract extension while they’ll need to re-sign Sanderson and Chychrun. this would almost certainly result in losing DeBrincat, and + Guentzel - a 1st, DeBrincat, and Pinto just can’t make sense for the Sens. it’s a super interesting idea though.
