The truth is that we are bound for another 8 years of mid.
Horvat's deal sucks. I love him, but that is way too much money for way too long
Barzal is fast, has great hands and great vision. But he doesnt produce like a 9 million dollar player
Lee is too old and too slow. And makes too much
Brock is one of the few bright spots on this team but is getting older and wont always produce at this high of a rate
Engvall is the only other player with speed, but he is way too inconsistent to be a reliable top 6 scorer
Palmieri makes too much and is too old
Pageau only had this high of points because of Barzal missing, and was still only a 40 point player, maybe hitting 45 if he played 82 games
Holmstrom is not good at anything. I loved him as a prospect, and he looked great in Bridgeport but it has yet to translate over
Wahlstrom is one of the few players with a lot of talent, but has yet to be given a shot, and there is no room for him
Martin, Clutter, Cizikas, Johnston all suck. Theyre slow, dont produce, old and arent good at anything. Teams who hit do not succeed in the playoffs. Why are they still here.
Pelech is good, getting older and has a lot of term
Pulock is good, getting older and has a lot of term. And Lambert doesnt even play them together
Aho has great analytics but man, he is so weak with his stick
Dobson looks great for 15 minutes a game, then has 3-5 shifts where he looks horrible.
Romanov had a terrible year. He was constantly out of place and doesnt produce. And we gave up a 1ST for him. WHAT
Bolduc has potential. We better give him a shot
Sorokin is going to leave us. He deserves better.
Lambert seems like a good guy and a great associate coach, he is no head coach. He is Trotz with less structure and less offense
Lou Lou Lou... I cannot even use the words I want to without getting banned. HE IS SO STUPID. Our 1sts have been traded at terrible value in all of those trades (Pageau, Palmieri, Romanov and Horvat).
We were going to miss the playoffs before covid hit. We were playing terrible, looked so bad and got bailed by a pandemic. Then we beat crappy Panthers, Flyers and Bruins. We then got dismantled by Tampa.
The following year? Okay cool we had a nice run but thats when we were younger and had Toews. Why is it that Toews is now a star who put up 50 points with great analytics.
We have too much money invested for too long on too old of a team with too many average players producing too little. We dont have the stars, and dont have the assets to acquire any.
We dont have any star prospects. Dufour and Maggio project as good middle six guys, but that does nothing for us. And we have no picks to change that.
Why are we going to act like with this current roster has the assets to win a cup? It doesnt. We are going to be mid until 2030. We arent going to be bad enough to get a good pick and even if we do, we are just going to ruin him. Our recent top picks:
Wahlstrom, on path to bust
Holmstrom, on path to bust
Kieffer Bellows, bust
Josh Ho-Sang, bust
Michael Dal Colle, bust
Aatu Raty, Traded
Bode Wilde, bust
Ruslan Iskhanov, no room to play
William Dufour, no room to play
Matthew Maggio, no room to play
We cannot develop forwards. Forwards do not succeed in this organization either.
THIS ROSTER WILL NOT WIN A CUP. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
Barzal can stay. Pelech, Pulock and Horvat will be forced to stay. Sorokin needs to be extended.
Dobson, Wahlstrom, Dufour, Iskahnov, Holmstrom and Bolduc must play every day to grow. They are young and have offensive upside.
Everyone else must be shopped. We need to retool heavily for the next 2 years to get better. Be realistic.
Lets say we someone come back this series, are we beating the Rangers? Hell no. The Canes are hurt, have bad goaltending and still smoked us. The Rangers are everything we struggle against. Okay we beat them? We arent beating Boston, Toronto and Tampa.
There is less than a 1% chance we win the cup this year, and next year is even more. Detroit, Columbus, Ottawa are all getting better and have good futures. Carolina and New Jersey arent missing the playoffs for the next 10 years. We arent succeeding with this roster.
I'm guessing if Varlamov wanted more $$$$ he could play elsewhere next year
yea. But hes made enough and was a huge reason of getting Sorokin over here. So id imagine he just stays for another year, especially cuz he doesnt wanna go to Canada and many parts of the US

You're right location is important. The good Jersey team is looking for a goalie as are the greatly improved Sabres.
The islanders aren’t a team where the “they have no room for this young player” applies. They are old and lack talent, any cheap young player who have shown signs of being a top 6 player has a spot in this lineup.
Wahlstrom has been one of the isles most efficient forwards over the last 3 seasons. I don’t know of any other young player who has produced more in the type of role he is in

I 10000% agree that there is a spot for them. I meant that we were not going to get them their chance because the organization has refused to give these players an opportunity there.
Wahlstrom played 10 mins a night, Dufour came up and played 8. Raty never got a chance. We dont give any of them a real chance because we throw them with bad linemates. Like why did we call up Raty when I think Pageau was hurt just to play him4C with Martin and Clutter/Johnston?
jeez you islanders fans lose one game and this how you act
Its not one game. Its been the same story since the 90s. I mean look at our roster. Good enough to take a game or two against any team, but not good enough to ever get to four on a consistent basis. As soon as our goalies give up 3+, its over

Wahlstrom is a “Lou guy” so I doubt he gets traded. It would be another tolvanen situation. But I agree with what you’re saying. Wahlstrom goes on streaks where he puts up 8-10 pts in 10 games and he still doesn’t get an increased role. It’s impossible to be a 50-60 point player getting bottom 6 minutes.
He ranks 5th in goals above replacement over the last 3 years and is the only forward in the top 5 with a two way impact. Extremely underrated
You forgot trade 2024 first for a player worth no more than a 3rd
Only if that player is former player for Lou. He always brings back his guys. Was routine in NJ (Gomez, Mogilny, Arnott, Sykora, Rolston, Shanahan, etc).
