I wouldn't do it personally. EP45 is a phenomenal player and would be too expensive. It also leaves this team with the lingering issue of being soft; we'd get thrown around every game like we did against Ottawa.

Value might be fine but no team in the right mind accepts it.. you could make it 8 1sts and Van still says no. Not because of the value but no team is trading the centrepiece of their franchise. Now you add Larkin to the deal to upgrade to EP then you might get the deal done

This is the right answer. Doesn't matter what you give up, Edmonton won't trade McDavid/Draisaitl, Colorado won't trade MacKinnon/Makar, Minnesota won't trade Kaprizov, etc. No GM is going to trade their franchise centrepiece, unless you're trading your own franchise centrepiece (In the case of Pettersson, that would involve a deal around Petey for Seider, as it fits Vancovuer's needs).
