LA doesn't need more scoring wingers. If they didn't already have Fiala and Kempe, then maybe this would be worth considering. As it stands, Iafallo brings more to the lineup than Guentzel would.

Gotcha. Value wise though how do you think it is? Like what would you imagine return being for Guentzel?

Also what would Turcotte cost?

While offers sheets are a hostile action to other GMs, Pitt doesn't have any star talent coming up through the system that would be at risk of an OS. By the time they did, Pitt and the other teams likely would have new GMs and the memory of it may have faded, so might as well do it.

Turcotte's cost is hard to determine. He's included in just about every ACGM trading with the Kings, so he's obviously still in demand. He hasn't disappointed as a prospect or anything, he just hasn't been able to stay healthy. I don't think the Kings are ready to give up on him since he's still waiver exempt for another season. I'd say his value is probably closer to a the high 1st round pick that he was than it is to a failed prospect. The Kings are gambling by keeping him, because he will be worth absolutely nothing at this time next year if he can't stay healthy and take that next step, but I think that's a risk they're willing to take.

1st round picks are worth more to the Kings since they have already traded away two 1st round picks in a row, and I think Iafallo is one of the most underrated players in the league, so I think this trade is lopsided in Pittsburgh's favor. Could probably swing a more favorable deal from a team that needs more top line scoring (NYI comes to mind).

Respectfully, Pittsburgh is getting fleeced in this deal. Iafallo isn't in Jake's class, Turcotte is a borderline NHL'er (we have a ton of those prospects), and a 1st really doesn't help the Pens win now.
Over the last 3 years Jake has 99 goals and 214 points. Iafallo has 44 goals and 103 points in that span. You don't trade top line scoring wingers for expensive 3rd liners.

It's definitely creative. I completely disagree with the Jake and Rust trades, but I do like the idea of taking a chance on one of Laf or Newhook.

Soucy is not a first pair dman lol and no on Marc Staal.

LA doesn't take that Jake deal either.

Also don't think the Pens would send Rust to WSH.

Didn't say Pittsburgh should do it. Just that LA shouldn't.
