Kyle Palmieri would have to regress massively to be considered a negative asset. He’s been good this year.

If NYR decide Goodrow is the contract that needs to go- and the only way to trade him is by attaching a pick in the 50's AND a real good prospect...then I'd suspect a buyout is on the horizon. No way are they giving that much to move him.

My guess is a handful of playoff teams that fall short will see value in adding a player like Goodrow. IF Drury decides to move him...can see NYR retaining some salary and getting back a 3rd or 4th.

NYR don't need to do that and its an overpay.

Not sure FLA will need to do that with the cap increasing.

I doubt EDM pull the plug on Campbell and/or consider Ceci a full dump.

Faksa maybe an option and NYI cap dump candidate is likely Bailey as opposed to Palmieri

Not sure id be happy with just the 2nd for Peterson either. We got a mid 2nd and 4th for 1.5 seasons of Zaitsev. Think this would need to be at least a 2nd + 3rd for Peterson or for them to include a prospect.

I would just like to say that I would love for CHI to find a way to acquire Samoskevich.

Goodrow is still a positive asset. The rangers could 100% offload him for a late pick. They definitely do not need to give up a top prospect and a high pick

Regardless of what happens with Goodrow, do people not realize that he does not cost anything via buyout for the next two years (actually a buyout gives 200k and 100k MORE cap space due to contract structure). If anything, a team against the cap may PAY for that extra cap space. Even if they don't trade, he has one bad buyout year in 4 seasons from now when the cap won't be an issue for NYR do the the rises expected with the Salary Cap.

Less than zero chance Edmonton considers that.

Real good point you make here...and I'm not sure how his buyout changes each year further into his contract- but if future buyouts remain friendly then there could certainly be a bunch of teams- who see him as a possible finishing piece to their team- and would be willing to take him on for a year or two before they either move him or buy him out. In any case, I'm not a fan of taking on 8 years of dead Cap (well, actually 6 years here)...but -other than the 1 year- the dead cap is small enough that they will not package any significant assets to move him. If anything, they will get assets back in return.

Well here is is per capfriendly's calculator. The overall term (8 years) is not preferential, but the actual cap hit is not bad at all (outside of year 4, the 26-27 season). My point was, Panarin and Trouba are both off the books that year. NYR aren't in any trouble long term.

Cap Hit
Year 1: -$200,000
Year 2: -$100,000
Year 3: $1,150,000
Year 4: $3,650,000
Year 5-8: $1,258,333
