Which valuations do you disagree with? (I definitely had the ducks overpay considering the value of zegras and how high their firsts are but oh well) It would be near impossible to get the top few picks, specifically in a draft like this, but again I was thinking more in terms of general picks. I saw someone else do it and thought that I think the devils have more trade capital on their roster than any other team based on their talent, age, term of players under contract, and prospect pool

Some wild player values here. Especially L Hughes and Siegenthaler. And underselling Hamilton

Hamilton was the last trade I made so I only needed 1 pick.

I think siegs as a top pairing dman traded at this past deadline, making 1.1 mill (to help a team making a playoff push), along with being signed long term at a bargain rate is easilt worth 2 1sts just based on cap savings alone. 5 years from now when the cap is way higher its gonna cost a hell of a lot more than 3.4 mill to get a player of siegs caliber

Honestly that seemed like a bit of an overpay with the nucks pick sitting at 11th. Dach went for 13 and a 3rd with worse production and status than laf and they didn't take on a massive cap dump

Really? a couple of mid 1sts and a few picks downgrade (honestly could take out the 24 pick swap it really doesn't matter here,) while getting bratt and getting chiarot off your books (I viewed that contract as a significant cap dump)

Even assuming all picks are at the very end of the round, Hughes is not worth Zegras + 3 1sts +1 2nd.

oh yea totally, but it just seems like some of these are a little far fetched, like zegras, graves and Luke, you have to take into consideration where teams are drafting, I dont think a team with the 1OA would trade their first for L Hughes + a 1st,

I think the talent gap is a lot wider than you think with hughes being significantly more productive on both ends of the ice
Hughes for Zegras + 2 firsts and some other sweetener is likely reasonable.

Price is LTIRETIRED so it won't cost us a thing to move his contract if we plan on moving it cap teams will give up lat picks to acquire LTIR contracts. Also we have no need to move Gallagher as we currently have 19.5 mil cap space with Price's LTIR contract. All this to say you are dreaming wet and wild dreams if you think Montreal would pay 3 1sts to move contracts they don't need to move.

Yeah not much thought was put into the exact positions, just viewing picks in categories of high mid low, and this particular draft class makes it even more ridiculous with the 1 and 2 picks being basically impossible to get.
I think with a draft class like last year and this haul of players you could get it done a lot easier

based on monahan precedent of 6 mill for a first. 4 years of that, with at least 2 of them when you plan to compete is all the thought that was put in. plus a decent prospect. also this really doesn't matter and you can take the calgary 1st back or take seamus casey its not a real prediction

Wings have miles of cap space… Chiarot is not an issue even if overpaid. He also was brought in for intangibles for the kids coming up and was given an A instantly.

Pick 9 is not “mid 1st” it is a top ten pick.

3 first rounders from a rebuilding team only to get a player (albeit a good player) and an f-off late 2nd? Loony toon land.

In this case the devils 2nd would almost certainly be high bc again I have traded away every good player. (and again the swap doesn't really matter you can take it out but in my mind is was a 4-5 pick drop)

Did not keep track of where the detroit pick was. honestly thought they were somewhere between 12-14 bc they were in the playoff hunt not too long ago.

Fair point on the NJD being higher due to the players sent out. At the same time, there would be no incentive to trade from BOS 1st to NJD 2nd because NJ wouldn’t be trading anything to move up.

So if you take those out, it becomes pick 9 (Moore/Barlow/Cristall/Reinbacher/???) and 17 (Leonard/Wood/Drags/Ritchie/???) with Chiarot (which again is not a negative impact on Detroit) for Bratt? That is an overpayment.

What would be a reasonable package for both 23 firsts (assume a draft class that isn't ridiculously loaded)

very fair, its more of a fun thing as opposed to serious, youre gonna have some people mad, there isnt enough talent to get everyone in the draft, but theres a decent amount.

The reason why I dont think graves would go for that much is because Gavrikov who has pre much the same profile, went with a goaltender for a 1st and 3rd and cap dump

If this draft class wasn't the way it is people would be way more open to it being a fun thing. I basically just saw someone else do it and thought that I feel like the Devils in terms of roster and prospect pool have more tradeable asset value than any other team (that may be rooted in bias tho but I don't think so)

Ig i could throw in a boqvist or something to move the needle in a package for a late 1st, or take on a cap dump and retain

I could also probably switch severson and graves as severson would have more value as a RHD (A large part of me wanted the devils to help extend their window a bit by trading off 1 of severson/graves as a rental instead of losing for free as UFAs)

What would be a reasonable package for both 23 firsts (assume a draft class that isn't ridiculously loaded)

DET 9 (shot at Bedard in Lottery something like 5%)
NYI 17 (could get to 20s but not the most likely)
for
Jesper Bratt (top 10 pick)
Holtz or Casey (mid round pick)

That would be my ask, and I'm sure it would vary depending on who you ask. The shot at Bedard being removed, the offer goes down. Although personally I wouldn't entertain the idea of trading a top 10 pick when SY has hit on each top 10 since he has been in Detroit.
- First draft he got Seider (which people didn't see coming).
- Second draft he got Raymond (3rd youngest to 100pts in DET history) and Wallinder at 32 who looks like another Edvinsson.
- Third draft he got Edvinsson and Cossa.
- Last year he got Kasper who managed to play a game this season.
