No $4,500,000 bonus overage for Bergeron and Krejci, So technically you're over the salary cap.

Taylor Hall isn't waiving.

And what makes you think that Charlie Coyle would go to vancouver?

The Pens trade is mostly fine, but I think the 2nd by itself is fine or a 3rd + prospect.

Canucks decline. We're already tight on cap space, not taking on a $3 million dollar defenseman who wouldn't make our NHL roster. Coyle wouldn't fit either, we already have too many expensive forwards and no space for another one. Teams aren't gonna help Boston out of their cap hell while giving up picks, you got yourself into this mess and you'll have to pay to get out of it.

All players traded (except Reilly) are exceptional players. Any team with room/need would want Hall/Coyle/Grzelcyk

Giving up picks for good players (except Reilly) what a concept! You think Hall/Coyle/Grzelcyk have negative trade value.

Hall to a team that needs him that he's willing to accept a trade to. Doesn't have to be Dallas. Also, Grzelcyk is a top 4 dman on a lot of teams.

Sure they are good players, but that doesn't mean that they'll get good returns. Their value will be diminished due to Boston needing to move them for cap reasons. Columbus was in the same position last season, and they had to move Bjorkstrand for a 3rd and 4th. Hall has very similar stats to Bjorkstrand, and Coyle has worse stats but plays a more important position. You won't get more for Hall and Coyle than what Columbus got for Bjorkstrand. Grzelcyk can't really compare as he plays defense but he's probably in the same situation as Bjorkstrand. I'd say fair valuations would probably be something like:

2nd for Hall
3rd + 4th for Grzelcyk
4th for Coyle and Reilly (Coyle worth 3rd + 4th, Reilly costs a 3rd to dump)

He is a pending UFA, so whoever buys him is only going to get a year of him before they could have potentially signed him as a FA. Boston doesn't have leverage because they need to shed cap in order to put a roster together next season. The returns they get for guys like these are going to be minimal.

Bjork is younger, on a better deal, with no NMC to get in the way. Taylor Hall isn't what he used to be, the people buying won't be getting prime Taylor Hall, they'll be getting 32 year old past his prime Taylor Hall.

Bjorkstrand's stats last season: 80 GP - 28 G - 29 A - 57 PTS
Hall's stats this season: 58 GP - 16 G - 20 A - 36 PTS (comparing to Bjorkstrand, on pace for 80 GP - 22 G - 27 A - 49 PTS)

Bjorkstrand's stats over the 3 season before being traded: 185 GP - 67 G - 70 A - 137 PTS
Hall's stats over the past 3 seasons: 192 GP - 46 G - 84 A - 130 PTS

Points aren't the only way to judge how good a player is, but they are a big part of it. Hall and Bjorkstrand are certainly very similar players. Other factors include Hall having a 10-team no trade list while Bjorkstrand could be traded anyhwere, Hall costing $600,000 more, and Hall having 2 years left vs. Bjorkstrand's 4.

Only thing Hall has on Bjorkstrand is the fact that he was a better player 6 years ago. However, NHL GM's make trades based on what the player is today, not the player they were 6 years ago.

Hall may/may not be worth his contract now. You seem to ignore his M NTC. All he has to do is put team with cap (usually poor teams on his NTC list, and what other teams can afford or want his 6m full contract. Not saying it means everything, but Hall's PPG is below his value at 6m player.

When you are in such a bad cap situation like boston it means you HAVE to move players, which lowers the return
