A more likely scenario from both teams POV would be trading Laf for Gurianov + 2nd. Neither player has lived up to their draft pedigree, both are former 1st round picks (top 12), both have career high points of about 32. Montreal is adding the 2nd because Laf is younger with more potential. I don't think it will be liked by Rags fans but Gurianov will be cheaper on a bridge deal (which makes it easier to resign some other RFA's they have) since he is slightly older but he is also just entering his prime as well which still fits the Rags cup window.

Hutson is massively overrated by Montreal fans, but that is downright silly. He doesn't have anywhere close to that value.

They think he's better as a prospect than Nemec or Jiricek just leave them be. Getting overhyped about identical production to David Farrance his last two years at BU

You are delusional
Gurianov have ZERO value, he stinks
Not Lafreniere, he doesn’t live up being the 1st OA, but neither is Slafkovsky. Would you trade Slafkovsky for a 2nd and a bad player ?

You guys are delusional if you think Gurianov has "no value"

My point was that neither player has proven anything at the NHL level and neither has cracked 40 points so their values are relatively low.

I just realized as well that my original comment was meant for another thread anyway lol.

Gurianov was just acquired for garbage, has a 3 million dollar QO which he isn't good enough to deserve, and so he will likely become a UFA at seasons end after not being qualified. So 0 value

I'm not saying Farrance was a better prospect. I'm saying Hutson's numbers are vastly inflated bc of his role on the team he's on

what does that even mean? inflated??? is bedard number inflated because of his role? and once again you miss the point if you think a freshman and the last 2 yeara of farrance are comparable. clearly there is something you dont understand

Gurianov has no value
He isn’t worth his QO and he isn’t a good two-way forward
He just have a good shot and speed, that’s it (ok and seize)

Kirby Dach best season was 9 ! Goals & 26 points …
Playing in CHI top 6
Alexis Lafreniere has a 19 goals 31 points seasons & he is currently at 34 points playing in NYR bottom six

Dach was worth the 13th OA pick + the 66th OA pick

Lafreniere is definitely worth more than Dach, so MTL 2023 1st OA

The offer you have with Gurianov + a 2nd is atrocious for them

boy your knowledge is sn\mall as an 18 yr old he broke Brian leetch records and he is a hall of famer.... he certainly has a chance. And there are alot more 5'10" defenseman in the league than their are 5'8" so it makes a difference... Course he will play in Ncaa and gain height and weight for another season or two.... watch him at the world juniors this winter

you are probably right but if he score 3-4 more scores before the end of the season they might give him a 2.5 mil two year offer that he night sign... 2.9 is his qualifiing off but he can sign a contract at a lower amount. I agree through if the number has to be above 3mil then the habs will pass

Gurianov's QO is 2.9 Mil, even a 3rd line winger who puts up about 25-30 points is worth that contract. I don't understand why you wouldn't want Gurianov at 2.9 mil when he can fill-in in the top 6 as well if needed, but to each their own. We did get Barron and a 2nd for Lehkonen, who had struggled to put up more than 31 points while with the Habs and was getting paid 2.3 Mil as a 3rd liner and in the same situation contract wise as Gurianov is now.

Yes Dach did struggle in Chicago and I wasn't saying Laf wasn't worth a 1st +. What I was saying is that I think Gurianov is being severely underrated on here, especially when you consider the Lehkonen trade. I think the value of Gurianov right now among NHL GM's (since the trade) will be around a 2nd + 3rd or 2 2nds (Lehkonen value at the time of his trade). I also think that Lafs value is slightly lower than you seem to think. I don't think anyone is giving up a top 10 pick in this draft + for him. More likely it would be an 11-20 pick + 2nd rounder in the range of 40-50, which is still better value than Dach. All this to say that Gurianov + 35th should be close in value to 11th + 40th, maybe a B prospect would need to be added to even it up but I don't think it's as bad as you let on based on recent trade history (specifically Lehkonen).
