Description
1. PLD OS is just one scenario that could play out this year. I would prefer going the trade route but as illustrated many times on here a reasonable deal between Montreal fans and Winnipeg fans can't be agreed on, so I showed an OS instead.

2. Doubtful NYR would make that move but the offer is similar to the Dach deal, which would be a good comp for Laf. Dach was a 3rd over all pick Laf was a 1st but Dach plays center and Laf is a winger so that offsets their draft positions.

3. Montreal drafts Benson at 5th (Sale goes 4th and Michkov drops out of top 5 due to Russian saga) and Reinbacher at 13 or 14.

4. SJ trade happens on draft floor, Montreal selects Hrabal with Jersey's 1st.

5. Montreal signs Livingston and Perets to AHL contracts to finish the year in Laval and ELC that start in 2023-24.

6. Please note: this isn't so much what I think will happen just playing around a bit with reclamation projects and building for the future. The 2023-24 season will be another tough year but will make for a stronger team in 2024-25 going forward.

Teams just don't trade top 5 picks. Nothing ends arguments better than facts. And the fact is that Dubois really doesn't have much more value than Fiala this summer. If Winnipeg so chooses to trade PLD then Florida's 1st + 1 of Beck/Farrell should be pretty close to fair.

How is it similar at all? Dach was traded for the guaranteed 13th OA pick and to a rebuilding team.
1. That Calgary pick has a load of conditions on it that make it almost guaranteed top 10 protected and 2-3 years out
2. NYR is absolutely not rebuilding, that pick will have significantly less value to their playoff runs than Lafreniere

I agree about your last point. NYR will want an established player that can take them far in the playoff. Considering that, NYR will want someone like Josh Anderson

The hilarity that would ensue with an Anderson-Laf trade. Oh no, you did that! It's in the ether. Here we go...trolls are gathering their war charts and jfresh is hiding behind a tree rubbing his hands together to rile up his minions.

Drury laughs so hard he wets himself and then says no thanks but the Rangers will give you a 5th round pick for Slafkovsky.

LMAO last years 1st OVA pick and this year's top 5?! And Rags fans say Habs fans are delusional!!! You aren't getting a top 10 pick period for Laf at this point in time let alone 2 in back to back drafts!!!

I said an overwhelming offer. Im aware of laf's value. Im also saying you're not getting the rangers to trade for futures for a guy in their top 9/ top 6.
Moving on from a 1oa pick has to be because the player is absolutely terrible. Laf is absolutely not that, or MTL fans wouldnt be trying to trade for him just because he speaks the language.

I think he will be resigned as well but according to others he may not be, that was all I was referring to. Also was just trying to make a fair value offer instead maybe a 2nd in 2024 or another similarly valued prospect at a position of need for the Ducks makes more sense.

There were multiple reasons Milano wasn't kept around. Injury history (concussions), attitude problems, etc. Comtois is willing and able to play the brand of Hockey Verbeek wants, and he works hard every time he's on the ice, it's been something the coaching staff talks about him constantly.

Comtois has also been on a scoring tear the last two weeks, 6 points in his last 7 games. Maybe he doesn't get the QO but a cheaper deal with longer term, but I suspect he is resigned.

I mean sure. If he came at a reasonable cap hit like under 3M. But he doesn't and thus Anderson will almost certainly never be moved.

How about Rangers decline cause this breaks up the kid line and this is counterproductive. We can’t afford to resign Kane or Tarasenko and we know it’s cheaper to keep Laf who will have another year of playoff experience. I can’t see him getting moved unless he publicly wanted out, wanted a $5 mil plus bridge contract or someone sent an offer that is fantastic and helps us now (while taking into effect our cap constraints).

Anyone who counters with the Habs unprotected 2023 1st and Slaf or Slaf for a 5th. Either doesn't know a thing about hockey or is just here to troll, so it's not worth continuing a conversation with that person.

TBH, I see the Rags figuring out a way to resign Tank even if it breaks up the "kid line".

see jfresh release the Josh Anderson stat card?

Its almost like people that watched the games knew what they were talking about with Josh and not the folks that rely on arbitrary metrics that change their values daily.

How is a Dach type of return garbage? Laf's value now is similar to what Dach's was at the time of his trade.

Chicago was actively looking at trading Dach. That is the only reason he was available in the first place. Most teams aren't usually trading their top 3rd OV pick a few years removed because they're done with them already.

You are extrapolating very different situations with the same return. Actually less. The pick the habs gave up was guaranteed 13OV that year and a 3rd. The CGY pick is in 2 drafts from now and no guarantee its 13OV either. Yeah maybe worse maybe better but that team has a lot of quality vets on it. Im not betting on a top 5 pick.

Chi wanted to move on from Dach. NYR don't appear to be trying to move on from Laf.

Even if they did, I can’t see this being the deal that does it.
