Mode - plafond salarial: Basique

Description

1. PLD OS is just one scenario that could play out this year. I would prefer going the trade route but as illustrated many times on here a reasonable deal between Montreal fans and Winnipeg fans can't be agreed on, so I showed an OS instead.

2. Doubtful NYR would make that move but the offer is similar to the Dach deal, which would be a good comp for Laf. Dach was a 3rd over all pick Laf was a 1st but Dach plays center and Laf is a winger so that offsets their draft positions.

3. Montreal drafts Benson at 5th (Sale goes 4th and Michkov drops out of top 5 due to Russian saga) and Reinbacher at 13 or 14.

4. SJ trade happens on draft floor, Montreal selects Hrabal with Jersey's 1st.

5. Montreal signs Livingston and Perets to AHL contracts to finish the year in Laval and ELC that start in 2023-24.

6. Please note: this isn't so much what I think will happen just playing around a bit with reclamation projects and building for the future. The 2023-24 season will be another tough year but will make for a stronger team in 2024-25 going forward.

How is a Dach type of return garbage? Laf's value now is similar to what Dach's was at the time of his trade.

Going to need more maple syrup if that French toast is going to happen! Sweeter return than a mid 1st and trash that barely belongs in the NHL today. It would be a Slaf for Laf deal if it happened

Yes it is questionable but it beats trying to create a trade on here that both fan bases will agree on.

How is this horrible? It is similar to the Dach trade, Dach is a center (the more valuable position), Laf is the same age Dach was at the time of his trade and both were/are underachieving.

Agree that it’s partly questionable.

It’s not horrible maybe wait another year and if Laffy still hasn’t cracked the 40 point mark. Than he has to be moved.

Ducks didn't qualify Milano after the season he had. Comtois QO is 2.445M I can't imagine they pay him that much for his current contribution. With Terry Zegras and Drysdale being RFA's this summer they should have no issue reaching the floor either, plus they will probably have other young guys trying to make the starting lineup including this year's top 5 pick

Teams just don't trade top 5 picks. Nothing ends arguments better than facts. And the fact is that Dubois really doesn't have much more value than Fiala this summer. If Winnipeg so chooses to trade PLD then Florida's 1st + 1 of Beck/Farrell should be pretty close to fair.

How is it similar at all? Dach was traded for the guaranteed 13th OA pick and to a rebuilding team.
1. That Calgary pick has a load of conditions on it that make it almost guaranteed top 10 protected and 2-3 years out
2. NYR is absolutely not rebuilding, that pick will have significantly less value to their playoff runs than Lafreniere

1. This isn't a trade it's an OS compensation but I get the premise of your position. Also I agree the Fiala trade is a good comp but I wouldn't include Farrell in any trades right now, I would consider the Cats 1st and Beck though but Jets fans always ask for more hence the reason for the OS in this ACGM (to avoid the arguments lol)

2. Yes Calgary's pick has a boat load of conditions but most of them still result in it being a 1st in 2025, it also has the ability to be a 2023 1st if Calgary’s pick is in the 20+ range

Dach when he was moved was averaging 18 points a game. Laf is averaging 15 points a game.
When you get 3 more minutes a game, but average the same amount of points, it means the guy with less minutes is much better.

the kid line is not being broken up except for an overwhelming offer. Slaf + montreal's 1st (unprotected) would be something.

GM's may think an offer is fair, but also not do it because if it backfires, they're fired.

I think he will be resigned as well but according to others he may not be, that was all I was referring to. Also was just trying to make a fair value offer instead maybe a 2nd in 2024 or another similarly valued prospect at a position of need for the Ducks makes more sense.

If you're going into offer sheets, we can't carry Price's contract into our contention window. Just a caveat.

Dach was two picks, so this isn't really comparable for Lafreniere. 13th and 66th during a draft in progress is more than a 1st with conditions and protections that is a couple years out.
At the very least that's going to have to be the Florida pick this year, on the draft floor, with somebody NY wants on the board in that position.
Let them know that pick is available (plus a 2nd/prospect) should they want to sell Lafreniere, then wait and see if they bite.

Pass on Comtois as well. We have one project player already in Gurianov and enough works in progress.

Any time "French" is a factor in your targeting, you're immediately on the wrong path.

That's fair, I forgot the Dach trade included the 3rd round pick. So maybe add the Avs 2nd in 2024 to the 2025 Flames pick (which btw could end up being the Flames 2023 1st as well since they may still make the playoffs and finish in the 20-32nd range)

I agree on not just going for French players, however this was more for fun than anything else. However it's not like these French players aren't worth the risk and wouldn't make us better.
