Probably not, I don't hate the trade but would rather just play out the picks and prospects at this point.

Calgary isn't bad. People only think they are. I think the team is "statement playing" when Sutter threw jakob pelletier under the bus, they team fell off a cliff. I think the team wants the coach replaced now. Sutter pissed off the team too much.

They are a top 3 team in the Pacific, they just aren't playing like it.

It's not the coach. The team has been through 5 coaches (Hartley, Gulutzan, Peters, Ward and now Sutter) in the going on 9 years since Treliving was hired as GM. Pretty much a new coach every 2 years. In that time the one thing the team has done very consistently is be incredibly inconsistent, they'll play very well one year under a new coach and very poorly the next. If that happens once or twice it might be the coach but when it keeps happening over and over with multiple different coaches it's a problem with team makeup / individual player competitiveness and that's on the GM.

Even if you somehow still think it's a coaching issue you have to remember the GM hires the coaches too. The first thing that needs to change is Treliving needs to be replaced.

Oh yeah you aren't wrong. I think the leash he has is still long enough that he has the benefit of the doubt from ownership.

Exactly, if ownership finally replaces Treliving then Sutter should get at least 1 year under the new GM. Hopefully one who's more willing and able to support the coach by bringing in players that fit Sutter's systems better. Sutter always talks about size and speed together but Treliving never brings anyone in via trade or free agency who has both size and speed far less one who also fills the team's long standing need for a top 6 right shot sniper. He just brings in big slow older 4th liners on cheap contracts.

Yep. It's the problem the Canucks have been in. Aqua keeps bringing in GMs that will attempt to drag the team to the playoffs. Regardless of whether or not the team is capable of even doing anything in the playoffs.

too much for the wings to give away for a player that has decreased in production and high cap and term
