Description
Mix of what I would do and what I think will happen.

Armia and Hoffman unmovable

Edmundson kept to maximize value for upcoming Trade Deadline

Doesn't include the scenario of us getting top 3 pick, in which case Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson would make the lineup

Winnipeg trade doesn't work. They'd want either high picks/prospects or a hockey trade that gives them a similar potential C, but one under contract (and we aren't trading Dach).

We aren't getting a 2nd for Allen. Even accounting for team quality, he's had a bad year. He has the yips giving up early goals as well. His contract extension only solidifies that, even with retention.
Might get another project player with a similar contract if someone desperately needs a goaltender, but not likely.

Some merit to a Bailey dump scenario.

It looks like Primeau is done in Montreal. Even if we have an injury and he gets some starts, there won't be enough of a sample to justify keeping him unless it's accompanied by some stellar, game stealing play in the minors.
Time to move on and give starts to the next potential NHL goaltenders.

Sure I like Allen and if Detroit strucks out in free agency sure but not paying a 2nd and not paying more for retention we don't need.

One year of Bailey doesnt cost that much to dump. A 3rd is all we would do, or we would just buy out

Detroit passes, A backup Goalie cost nowhere close to a 2nd round pick. Allen is decent but we can do better on the FA market for similar money and hold onto our assets.

I'd probably agree but it's about the same return as the Monahan trade we made at the start of the year + Lou doesn't seem to care about his 1sts anymore. I think they'd definitely be ready to give up more than a 3rd, perhaps only a 2nd though

One big difference: Calgary *had* to get rid of Monahan's $6.375M (which is about 25% more expensive than Bailey's deal) because they just signed Nazem Kadri and buying him out wouldn't clear enough cap space.

Isles can easily buy out Bailey if they want him gone, save $2.3M this year and only get a $1.17M penalty in '24-25. That's nowhere near the value of a 1st round pick.

    A goalie with a GAA over 3 and a SV% below .900 isn't returning a 2nd round pick. Maybe a 4th or 5th if a team feels they really need him.
