He wouldn't accept a one year deal he wants to cash in so a 1 year os won't work there especially with the underpay

His QO is 6. He wants to be in MTL. At 6.3 we only have to sacrifice a 1st & 3rd next year. We then sign him to a long term extension at 9.5+/yr. If you match you cannot trade him for the remainder of the season, after which he is a UFA and you get absolutely nothing for him (under the premise he is walking). We don't need to give everything away for one player.

Canucks easily decline. Wideman holds no value to us, but Armia is a major negative asset. He's an AHLer making $3.5 mil at a position we have no need for. Only way Canucks consider taking on Armia is if he comes with a 1st round pick for future considerations.

That goes against every action and statement he made

Your GM publicly stated he intends to Test Free Agency.
How do you do that if you accept a OS with Term or any deal with Term early?
You're eliminating the Market the Player said outright without a shadow of a doubt that he will test.

MTL isnt confused on this , we know he's going to talk to other teams even if only to drive up our price.
We know getting him wont mean he'll just sign with us and take whatever.
We know we're still gonna have to pay more then anyone else would

WPG isnt prepared for any of that type of commitment at the level it would take to keep him .
8.4m with Term and a NMC is where i see it ending up and if WPG matches that dream of skating a full roster go away(used 8.4m for a reason ,its your Threshold )

Armia's contract is bad value, but he's not an "AHLer". Not every cap dump is a 1st round pick either.
Vancouver is probably the wrong destination for him, but that's just unreasonable.

They can buy out Armia for nothing, they arent giving you a 2nd round pick. 33k buyout cost this season then 1M the following year. Wideman can be sent down at no cost. The Canucks should absolutely do this trade as they'd be getting a 2nd for free lol Any rebuilding club would do this deal.

These fans are nuts. Saying they dont want a 2nd with such an easy solution to a buyout.

You do realize that this trade has the Canucks giving up the 2nd round pick right? Why would the Canucks PAY to acquire Armia?

We have had years of trading for the wrong players. We do not need to do this trade, to waste a second on players that dont fit the plan is not good asset management. So we should trade for the exact players we need for our plan.IMHO.

He may not be an AHLer to every team, but he would be to Vancouver. Kuzmenko, Mikheyev, Boeser, Garland, Beauvillier, Podkolzin, Kravtsov, and Studnicka all easily beat him out for the NHL roster spots, and Joshua, Di Giuseppe, and Hoglander are also all beating him out. Simply put, he'd be on our AHL 2nd line at best, and thus he's an AHLer to us. I don't think it would take a 1st to dump him on other teams, but it would for Vancouver. Monahan cost a 1st for $6.5 mil, Armia has $3.5 mil for 2 years ($7 mil total). Very similar salary. While he may only cost a 2nd/3rd to dump, Vancouver is going to ask for an inflated price if you want them to take a cap dump due to their cap situation. They don't have the space to be taking on cap dumps, so you'd have to pay them handsomely to do so.

Like I said Vancouver is probably the wrong destination for him but calling him an AHLer is just a lazy generalization.
That's like an Edmonton fan saying MacKinnon is a 3rd liner because he'd be behind McDavid and Draisaitl.
Your ability to compete at an NHL or AHL level has nothing to do with your relevant position on any single team's depth chart.
You can describe a player's value to your team without resorting to terms like cap dump or AHLer.
Vancouver doesn't have a need for Armia or the cap space to fit him into their bottom 6 is more accurate.

Sorry but Armia has a total of 17 goals in the last 3 years. He is definitly replacement level. He sucks, is overpaid, and is probably worse than several AHL callups. He is currently getting outproduced by AHL callup Sheldon Dries. It isn't lazy generalization. Armia is simply that bad
