Dvorak is an overpaid 4C on Winnipeg and is too expensive and not good enough defensively to play that position. He has no value to Winnipeg.

Harris is a small LHD that would be behind 5 or 6 guys on the Jets left side alone. He has no value to Winnipeg.

Ylonen is an unimpressive bottom sixer so far. No value to Winnipeg.

Honestly, I wouldnt mind that MTL trade if you swapped Ylonnen and Harris with Roy. It would be pretty comparable (slightly better, as it should be) to the Horvat trade.

Don't have many wingers???? Palat, Mercer, and Holtz are under contract, Bratt and Meier are RFAs, and Tatar will probably stick around. Not to mention Boqvist, Lazar, and Bastian under contract as well, plus Foote and Clarke looking to make the team.

Dubois intention is clear, he wants play for MTL. So, which team will trade with Winnipeg for one year before UFA? Look a Patty Kane's trade, he wants play only NYR, the return to Chigaco wasn't great. MTL will not overpay for PLD in this situation.

There's all kinds of wrong in your statement.

First, Dubois had NEVER said he intends on playing with Montreal in one year. What he has said is that winning is the most important thing to him. That means Montreal isn't an option.

Second, you may not understand the difference between an RFA and a UFA. Dubois is RFA this summer and has a full year of team control left, while Kane is an upcoming UFA with a couple months of team control left. Massive difference. They aren't comparable at all. Better comparables are Meier, as a winger, not quite as valuable as PLD, but in the same situation. Or, Horvat, an older, not quite as good version of PLD. Both returned far more than this.

Third, Montreal not overpaying is irrelevant. Plenty of teams will be willing to pay a fair price for one full year of PLD and even more for an extended PLD. So, the dreams of acquiring PLD for nothing of value simply aren't realistic.

Jeff Gorton paid 2-2nds for Adam Fox when Fox had already said he only wanted to play in New York. The 2 2nds were likely a bit over market value. If Gorton wants a player he will pay to get the player and not risk not getting him. Its really about how much montreal wants him.
